She floof, she comfy, she slep

Not much bonding, little time in the nest by dad, but mom got a feast! She got so excited the moment she realized dad was bringing something big 🤣

Rabbit was so large, quickly realized she couldn't gulp it down and had to take bites instead.

Comfy floofy night afterwards, couple more dad visits.

Almost feels like she knew dad would finally step up today.

She only spent a little around midnight out (likely) hunting. But other than that, she remained mostly in and around the nest, and didn't go out at all during her usual hunting time of 4-6:30am before dawn and waited for him.

So happy 🥹

It finally happened! Dad's improving behavior for the past week, more time in nest with mom, allopreening sessions, keeping watch around

All led to the first prey gift in over 3 weeks just before dawn!

Good sleep mom, you stayed strong, persevered & now you deserve it. Hoping for it to continue 🙏

The highlight of the night however was mom not being used to the ledge yet and faceplanting into the nest due to being overexcited and not paying attention 🤣

Both of them seem to be enjoying their new balcony a lot!

Dad used to jump to entrance and fly off within 10-15s, now he spends about 3-4mins scouting, even jumped to the roof once!

Mom has taken a huge liking as well, doing most of her calls there, no longer feels the need to jump to cam pole.

What a cute and wholesome night!

Dad made 7 visits, stayed in the nest with mom for hours in total, with a lot of allopreening sessions... And not all of them were forced into initiation by mom getting into dads face for attention... Only about half of them were 🤣

After roosting outside the entire day, mom has returned to the nest!

Both her (Pic 1) and dad (Pic 3, 5 minutes later), were surprised by the new porch balcony added to their suite during the day while they were off, and had to turn around to look at what they landed onto 🤣

Not much new behavior, but it was a huge night! Dad had 3 separate allopreening sessions with mom, and continued his nest maintenance a fair bit!

Still no prey gift though. And due to some drizzle outside, mom looks miserable sadly 😭

It was almost an unremarkable night, but luckily it turned out pretty well!

Due to mom going on hunting for 4+ hours, the duo rarely encountered each other. But dad spent a lot of time in nest, nest scraping and around dawn, he had some time to preen her for a bit as well!

Was a decent night. Not as much time spent together, but dad was still in the nest plenty, even nest scraping for over 5 minutes.

Mom was looking quite chipper and currently is dealing with a very warm day in Florida.

Not a step forward or anything, but positive consistency is also good.

Also, about 3,5 hours spent together in nest, partially due to mom strategically locking down dad from exiting, but still 🤣

5 visits total by dad, 6 mating sessions, lots of allopreening & vocalizing to bond...

All new records by dad, happy to see.

What a promising night! I genuinely feel like both mom and dad are extremely socially awkward if that's a thing with owls.

Mom knowingly or not, strategically locked dad in nest with her placement. Dad spent 45 minutes coming closer step by step to mom to spend half an hour preening her.
