@wychstreet.bsky.social I finally watched it last week on the local branch of the multiplex. My local cinema traded it for the 25th anniversary of Amores Perros 😒. I think the movie it’s an excercise on adaptation. YT film “critics” (mostly man) are panning PTA for being “too political”…(continues)

- he took only Pynchon bits that interested him, wrote around it
- he stole the structure of Les Mis - breakneck first act, settle into story 2nd act, third act reckon w choices
- he tried hard to write out cell phones, they’re the enemy of drama

@wychstreet.bsky.social Don Justino my grandfather passed away yesterday. He had been in hemodialysis for a year, but this weekend his catheter stopped working. It was going to be removed so he could spend his final days in palliative care when he suddenly left us.

@dicknixon.bsky.social Told my old man about Mr. Hegseth "Prep" talk. He is a retired Rear Admiral from the Mexican Navy who fought cartels a decade ago. Also, he is not keen on following US news although both of us are fluent in English. He laughed hard when I told him about the beard, Sir.
I knew a fellow in the Navy who had a beard.
Hegseth: "Today, at my direction, the era of unprofessional appearance is over. No more beardos ... if you don't meet the male-level physical standards for combat positions, cannot pass a PT test or don't want to shave and look professional, it's time for a new position."
