Today marks 49 years since U2 first played together in Larry’s kitchen, & I feel so much gratitude for all the music & memories over the years. 25 years ago when I bought my first U2 Cd at 13, “All That You Can’t Leave Behind,” I never would have guessed where my journey with the band would take me.

Thanks - great info. You are absolutely right no one ever talks about the Milton Berle appearance. Or the Steve Allen appearance after that. Both pre-date Sullivan appearance. And he rocked harder on those appearances with Heartbreak Hotel and Hound Dog, etc. Thanks for setting us straight!

Today in 1956 everything changed. Elvis Presley made his first of 3 appearances on the Ed Sullivan Show. Almost every episode of @garagetostadiums.bsky.social has a mention of Elvis as a major influence, from the Beatles to Tom Petty and beyond. Everything started 69 years ago today.
