what ChatGPT is genuinely good at right now is quickly producing large amounts of plausible-sounding text. if your job is to, e.g., produce generic copy for mass communications, there’s probably utility there. but the gap between what it does and how its proponents talk about it is enormous.

Ultimately I think Bright Future is my AOTY especially since I've seen it performed live and Sadness as a Gift is my song of the year. Lenker's emotionally potent songwriting is unrivaled in folk currently but is almost beaten by Porter's ability to make catchy melodies that bring me to tears.
