Down in the kitchen, a picturesque scene
A mattress, a pillow, a washing machine

Stein Urheim - Ferskvannsdelfinens blues
From right back in February, this is a lovely piece of cosy but open world-building, grass-stalks bending, things flittering about in the breeze. Many time moevements. It's taken the return of the summer stillness for me to return to this

U.S. Girls - Like James Said
Love a bit of noodly organ or synth in the background.

Baxter Dury - Schadenfreude
Baxter almost made into my PPP list, and on another day would have. The music works well with the disaffected snark.

Big Thief - Incomprehensible
Came close to being in my PPP nominations, only stopped by all the other tracks off the album nominated/bonused. This reflection on ageing is my fave track, but I didn't want to split votes.

Kieran Hebden, William Tyler - Spider Ballad
Wow, ticks all my slow-burning repetition buttons. I'm a long-term Four Tet fan, but I've never heard Lampchop, and only heard Tyler with Marisa Anderson. Together Hebden and Tyler made one of my fave albums of the year.

Time for a Boost to get Charli and John over the line.
Charli xcx featuring John Cale - 'House'
Definitely the most unexpected think I saw on Saturday Morning Rage this year, and my favourite track of those stuck on 2.

Ed Kuepper & Jim White - The 16 Days
I've probably seen more of Kuepper than any other artist live, though not for years. This song perfectly captures the feels. A little melancholic, a little lackadaisical but not really. Jim White's shuffle is the perfect foil.

Saint Etienne x Confidence Man - Brand New Me
After Gossip (which the kids loved) was on Rage for weeks, this dropped. Thanks Confidence Man for getting the kids to hear Saint Etienne.

Yetsuby - Aestheti-Q
Some lovely edgy beats here, nicely undermining the cleanness of the sound.

Aesop Rock - Movie Night
Has it really been 18 years since John Darnielle guested on that Aesop Rock track? This year's "Black Hole Superette" is the first album I've heard from Aesop Rock since then, and it's a load of fun. (Plus, I had a mutt when a kid, so can relate.)

Cameo Blush - Essa
My favourite discovery from #TheTwen2ie5 is the perfect banger for an antipodean summer.

Prolapse - On The Quarter Days
I can imagine On The Quarter Days being blared live in a club, a lovely Prolapse maelstrom. I'm guess this is a result of the band spending a decade or so gigging before recording again. The wait has been worth it.

Eev France - Pistol Whip (Demo)
My favourite pirce of drum n bass chaos of the year. In fact back in June I though it my favourite of any track from the first half of the year.

DJ Koze - The Universe In A Nutshell
Somehow I've missed the many works of DJ Koze, but enjoyed the rich hodgepodge of the "Music Can Hear Us" album. This track plays on subtle tensions between the layers of locked vocal and synth loops n beats versus the floating sitar sounds.

Balming Tiger, Yaeji - Wo Ai Ni
I've prefered Yaeji's guest spots this year to her two singles, while Balm Tiger is new to me. The clip is an example of springing the band on the unexpecting listener, which is a load of genuine fun.

Arooj Aftab - Raat Ki Rani (Khruangbin remix)
I'll likely not often align these two challenges this week so I can give myself the option to do some strategic BOOSTING in PPP. But lets crossover today with a languid track for my currently humid summer.

11. Pulse Emitter - Energy Flying
Wonderfully thumping piece of retro-style synth shenanigans. Layered loops n droning vocal chords n the sort of repetition and variation I love.
