Entoloma neglectum from a Cotswold Common. There are around 17 British records including duplicates since 1800 to date so this sequenced find is quite rare #Fungifriends #Fungi #Mycology #Nature #UKWildlife

DNA work is changing the names of fungi but I'm still having problems with the different ways the names are pronounced!

Good to meet you at Decoy park yesterday. I hope that you enjoyed the outing as much as me.

Thanks for your support Mark. We had a good turnout (and good weather) in Newton Abbot yesterday. Lots to find, identify and record. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.

Silage for dairy cows I think. But I'm sort of assuming that the scriptwriters know anything about agriculture. Could also be used in an Anaerobic digester.

I thought that apart from deer that home farm had no livestock. So why did they grow maize?

Countdown to #UKFungusDay 🍄Most commonly-encountered fungi in UK & Ireland: 6️⃣ Birch Polypore (Fomitopsis betulina). Was found with Ötzi the Iceman, a 5300-year-old mummy, suggesting its ancient use as a natural antibiotic & antiparasitic agent.

It's that time of the year again – look out for blackened veins on yellowed leaves of Ribwort Plantain, caused by the fungus Spilopodia nervisequia!

I'm more in favour of the previous saint of England , Saint Edmund. He fought with Alfred the Great against the Vikings. Also he has a nicer flag, a white dragon on a red ground.
