I've followed politics for many years. Twitter was good place to follow people I respect who share honest opinions and news. Many of those people are showing up here so I'm making the transition. I very much want BlueSky to become the new public square.
Yes, Paul Krugman's Substack article today gave a pretty good synopsis of this bailout, including some history on Argentina, particularly their history of debt defaults.

If I'm not mistaken, they asked for and received extra security since Trump was elected. She's not afraid but what about the rest of the judiciary. I guess we don't need them anyway because everything goes through Supreme Court these days.

I subscribed for maybe 15 years and cancelled. I stayed with them even though they had some opinion writers I couldn't stand but at least they balanced it out with honest, reasonable voices.

Farmers have a great lobbying group. I'm sure they will get their bailout as before. But this time might be different because they need help very soon before they go bankrupt.

I don't have an easy answer why so many farmers supported this clown who is causing them so much pain. But it really does sadden me to see them in such distress because, in the end, it will hurt all of us. They are the first to get the gut punch.

Exactly. They will say whatever number will make the big guy smile all the while knowing full well it's a lie. Last I heard was $60 billion now suddenly it's x10.

I don't really think she cares. Being a senator is a great job, with substantial benefits. She will simply not run again if she detects the polls are against her and live very comfortably.

I do appreciate George making these statements. It takes great courage to make these comments in public particularly because Trump is so vindictive.
