Yeah well, there were some ugly scenes. I somewhat liked Detroit and its ruined industrial/office areas. It reminds me so much of my country post-communist period in the 90s. I somewhat felt at home there. Except for a beheaded pigeon and some shady elements, it wasn't really that scary really.

TBH I never really felt unsafe in US too hah. People there warned me not to visit certain places (like Detroit and Tenderloin in SF) but I did. Probably bad things do happen there often and I got lucky.

Every time there is a mass shooting and I read the news, it is very much the same very depressing thing. I always think "are those people hypnotized or brainwashed or something". At some point there was a shooting in my US colleagues little town. I still can't understand how you treat is as BAU.

I don't know. My personal opinion is that there is too much libertarianism there, but I am not an American.

Yes, on that particular thing (gun and healthcare policies) I think US is fucking insane. I mean it is a big and wealthy economy. It can fix those issues and it refuses to do so. And also voters refuse to do so. It's crazy.

The far-right is still mostly about immigration here, we somewhat lack that religious fundamentalism part here. Europe is also romanticized among US progressives, it's not really what you think, I partly blame tourism for this.

Yes, it's hardcoded in people in US. Sometimes it's hard to understand each other because of that. It's weird. It looks very weird in Europe for sure. Then what's accepted for normal here looks very weird to Americans.

Can't really have an educated opinion on that, despite I've worked with Americans for many years and been to US many times. Greed is definitely a problem. You guys also destroy your education and the very idea of secularism. Nothing good can come out of that.

Yeah but you gave up without fight. The process lasted just several months. It lasted years in Hungary for example.

I mean in my corner of the world, I know autocracies (Russia, Belarus), semi-ones (Hungary, Serbia) and even my own country that went from that and back and then it goes in that direction again. Once you get into the authoritarian trap it is VERY hard to come out of it.

It is not a rule. It is also based on the presumption that you have free and fair elections. I am not sure this exists anymore in America and hopefully I am wrong.
