I track ICE flights, and I write about the history of American slavery. Sounds like two different things, but they're not really. Former WaPo. Signal: gbrockell.44 https://hardghistory.ghost.io/ PFP: Angelina Grimké

NEW: Air Force jets are doing ICE flights to Africa with transponders turned off, making them nearly un-trackable.

This includes the third-country removal to Ghana and another secret flight. We figured out where it landed.

ICE Is Deporting People to Africa on Nearly Un-Trackable Military Flights
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is deporting people to African countries like Ghana on military flights that are nearly un-trackable.

Awful. It’s early but this appears to be a junta or junta-aligned attack on civilian protesters.

(Reminder: ICE has deported at least 20 people to Myanmar this year.)

Myanmar: At least 24 killed as paraglider bombs Buddhist festival
Locals told the BBC the destruction from the motorised paraglider made it hard to identify victims.

Streets are still closed off in front of the Portland ICE facility at 8:30pm. Protesters have gathered on a side street. Dance party in progress.

When I was there Jennifer Rubin had the most-read story like 60 percent of the time. And I don’t mean most-read in Opinions, I mean most-read on washington post dot com.

BTW if you read these emails you may get the sense that they're recent but they're actually from 2014. Frum has been on the same job for an additional 11 years without this being public knowledge.

Nope. Which doesn’t surprise me, “I’ve got this” was kinda his whole vibe. Even his own witnesses were annoyed.

Gonna time my long-planned takedown of David Frum’s stupid opinions on Woodrow Wilson for Confederate Surrender Day

The First Amendment explicitly guarantees:

-the right of the people peaceably to assemble
-to petition the Government for a redress of grievances
-the free exercise of religion
-freedom of speech

If this priest had also been press, ICE would have violated all five 1A freedoms at once.

I can’t say I’ve done a legit jury nullification, but there was a time I was on a jury where this lazy ass prosecutor did not prove his case beyond a reasonable doubt and I helped get the rest of the jury to not guilty, and yes I did enjoy the surprised look on the prosecutor’s face.

I was devastated taking a semi-voluntary buyout after 10 years. I can only imagine what getting canned after 42 feels like. My heart breaks for them.

This little twerp, who’s been there a few months, axed two of the lions of WaPo??

Fisher is an investigative champion and had been at The Post for 39 years. Hoffman had been there for 42, and he won a Pulitzer LAST YEAR.

Last week, new WaPo opinion editor Adam O'Neal quietly carried out another purge of staffers, cutting editors and major names like Marc Fisher and David Hoffman, among others.

Meanwhile, he welcomed three conservatives to the section.

Post Traumatic Disorder
Adam O’Neal says he’s bringing “intellectual diversity” to The Washington Post’s opinion pages—but the moves he’s making behind the scenes tell a different story.

“We are home now. We marched from the park to ICE, very peaceful crowd. We were standing around ICE pushed us down, sprayed us with chemical and I was hit in the head with a projectile. This was so unprovoked. People have to know that the Feds are attacking people with NO provocation whatsoever.”

They tried to kill this woman because she annoyed them and they are charging because she lived. Her being alive is an assault on them.
gbrockell.bsky.social
Yes! You just can’t say to other jurors that that’s what you’re doing. And it’s better to help the other jurors get to not guilty than it is to just hang the jury.

There’s a lot of really good strategy stuff in here!

It is totally legal to vote not guilty if you think a law or an application of a law is bullshit, even if you think there is enough evidence to convict.
