I had a busy day yesterday. I’d arranged an away-day for the department (Electrical and Electronic Eng) and we had some productive and wide-ranging discussions. We’d booked out the Museum of Steam and Water near Kew Bridge and they were kind enough to stream the big engines during our lunch break.

One of our guest facilitators setting out the discussion topics. Partly hidden by the projector screen is a lovely triple-expansion marine engine in green and gleaming still and brass. To the left, a large brown flywheel of a horizontal steam engine. Both were fired up a little later.
