Google's early (and then rapidly abandoned) experiments stands out. Earth VR, Spotlight, Lightfields. Also loved the Cardboard Camera photo app. So much wasted potential there...

The problem for US centrists is that there is an abyss where the common ground in the middle used to be. And since no-one (including Ezra) really thinks the US far-right will come to their senses anytime soon, it will have to be the Left that accomodates and compromises. It's appeasement really.

I really liked the first few episodes, and the ending was very powerful. What really struck me was how matter-of-fact everyone was about the entire thing. And that no-one seemed to want to go to Sweden for some reason.

If US conservatives could, they would attempt to demolish all US cities and replace them with an endless suburbia. Not how the real world works of course, but they're past caring for details like that.

Some people seem to have an easier time imagining a fascist takeover than reforming an electoral system that grants absolute power to parties while winning only a fraction of the votes. But perhaps that's just the thing, Farange might juse become a more chaotic and cruel version of the status quo.

It's trying to do too much, all at once, with negative room for error... which I bet SpaceX engineers are very aware of. It's what happens when Musk tries to direct the details rather than a general direction. It's the SpaceX Cybertruck.

I would point out that being able to write, think and solve problems without a computer telling them what to do will be an increasingly sought after ability in the future. People who are reliant on LLMs are incredibly replacable, and having to always be online is a pretty fragile existence.

Or using a forklift to lift weights. Cunning in a stupid way, but you might feel like you have to if everyone else is doing it.

Once past the tipping point, forests burns until they are replaced by steppe or desert.
