here's a neat thing you can do with perspective! you probably know that the horizon line crosses a person's body at the same point no matter where that same person stands on the ground plane. (person "A" below and their clones of the same height/appearance)

Art used to involve a lot of guesswork for me. Something would “come out good” and I wouldn’t know how to replicate it. I understood that being able to control the outcome of a drawing was a skill that existed, but I’m not sure I fully believed it would ever happen for me.

"Just practice" is good and necessary advice, but so frustrating for beginning artists to hear. I think what's missing is the assurance that drawing WILL get more fun. It really will. And the thing that makes it more fun is the control you develop after lots of practice. (thread repost)

I often hear about "crappy first drafts," but...
...APPRECIATE your first drafts. They are the icebreakers and path-openers, ferocious, raw and daring to forge ahead.
Later, tweak them to make them better.
Instead of thinking of "crappy", think "icebreaking."

Last bit of old art for now. From 2018, one of my first brainstorms for Porrima.
In some ways this is a LOT cuter, sure, but I'm happy with where she ended up. She's far more of a scrappy weird creature now, and still cute, just different.
