Brown-winged Kingfisher (Pelargopsis amauroptera) a warm brown bird with bright red bill perched on branch from the Mangroves of Sundarbans, West Bengal, India. We celebrate World Wetlands Day on February 2nd, 2025; here is a jewel from one of India’s most diverse wetlands. Title: Penance_10 Brown-winged Kingfisher (Pelargopsis amauroptera) Acrylic on Canvas Size:8x8 inches Location: Sundarbans, West Bengal, India Duration: 66 Hours April 1st, 2019 Reference: Own Reference Sold, Private Collector During one of my birdwatching trips to eastern of India, stumbled upon this jewel. I was most captivated by their habitat; the groves were so densely vegetated, visibility was minimal. However, so many species not only survive but thrive in such tough conditions. Fishing cat is one of them, nocturnal and shy. For this kingfisher, though their bill and frontal body parts are a big giveaway, they shine like a lamp in the thick dark habitat. Here seen sitting in the branch early morning waiting for his next snack, shadows created by the canopy create enough shade for the school of fishes to gather. This provides ample opportunity for the King to hunt. Though early morning, the light was not enough to get my focus right. Had to use one of my torches to light the bird, which enabled my camera to focus, hence the two sources of light on the subject. Done my possible best to depict this magical habitat! Asian Leopard a medium size adult female cat with black spots on the body. Walking on a green tree log. Tail wounding up for balance, black spots on the tail. Body color is shades of yellow orche and light orange. Two ears, warm green eyes with black iris, pink nose, white whiskers. My hand holding a black handled watercolor brush with dark brown bristles. My surgery is
sharing various stages progress from line drawing to making color palette to working plumage to green leaves during different art sessions. I have achalasia cardia, which hinders food movement to my stomach. A rare nerve condition affects one in a lakh. Making art is soothing to my soul. I expressed gratitude to loved ones for our shared memories. Trying to keep calm and strong during my preparation for surgery. My surgery is schedule on 3rd September 2025, at Sakra World Hospital, Marathahalli, Bangalore. Keep me in your prayers!

Lake Tugalo is a lake formed by a dam on the Chattooga River where the movie Deliverance was filmed. the river forms the boundary between South Carolina & Georgia. it joins with the Tallulah River in the lake which becomes the Tugaloo River below the dam. it flows to the confluence with the Seneca River and that becomes the Savannah River which empties into the Atlantic Ocean.

A pair of Bar-Tailed Godwits flying low across water. Each autumn, the godwit flies from its breeding grounds in Alaska and Siberia to Australia or New Zealand to spend the winter. The bird may travel for nine or ten days, covering a mind-boggling 11,000km, without pausing to rest or eat. It's the longest journey without a pit stop of any animal on Earth.

#SuperMoon over #Toronto tonight. Shot was taken 21km (13 miles) from the CN Tower, so the apparent Moon size was about 200m (650 ft)! Unfortunately, the clouds were low enough that I couldn't get an alignment shot with the CN Tower.
