The upscale is a bit hit and miss. On smaller faces it gives that digital painting effect--feels like this was maybe done a while ago. But very cool to see Tamlyn Tomita! She and her husband run Outside In, the theater that I do work for/most of my friends perform at. 🖖

And Filmation color was Irv Kaplan so it makes sense!

This is what the original looked like (I tried to keep it as similar as possible)

The intro is so similar if you're just a little kid!

Wow thank you! I think one of the funniest compliments we ever got was "It's more animated than the show was!" 😂 was definitely designed to be a coffee table book. We actually had someone complained that the book didn't fit on their bookshelf and so they gave us one star on Amazon.

Awww thank you! It was a labor or love! Rich and I genuinely enjoyed making it--even when we wanted to strangle each other over creative differences 😂.

I like my mid-century a bit more Mad Men, but some of this is really cool. It's funny, for me it feels very 70s because basically when I was growing up we had older furniture, which was from the 50s and 60s. The is my one piece of real mid-century furniture (as I was moving out of my old apartment)

It was the guy's style. There were rumors he did it on purpose because of some kind of grudge but I feel like you'd only be able to get away with that once not continually and into the 80s with he-man!

I like the version with Arex and M'Ress!

We had a copper plate that had some kind of embossing on it--used to be in my grandparents home--so not the same but similar! If I find a pic I will post it.

Yeah it would be interesting to not have to wait an entire summer to find out what happens to Picard in "Best of Both Worlds" or have the anticipation of hearing about a new show and seeing how it turns out. I had a very different anticipation of what the Doctor was going to be like on Voyager!

It's so interesting to hear how people come to Star Trek--and it normally seems to be a loved one introducing it! When I was very young I sat on my grandfather's lap when he watched re-runs (they were really only 3 yrs old at the time--like us watching a show from 2023!) & never stopped watching.

I remember a video/news clip (which has since seems to have vanished from YouTube) where @4terryfarrell.bsky.social was handing out tribbles at an LA metro station (Hollywood & Highland I think) Everyone was having a lot of fun with this episode! I love the David Gerrold got to be in it too!

Well they did actually get at least the correct hand. There are instances when he's clearly using 2 left (or right) hands--or even as if his hand is someone else's entirely. This looks like one of those improv games where you have to be the other person's hands!

I imagine the senior staff in Sisko's quarters, taking a break between crises, having gumbo and she just randomly says "Benjamin, remember that time you tried to call the ship with your shirt?" and him giving her a withering look as he sees the confused faces & realizing now he had to tell everyone!

That's why I have it on Blu-Ray and am in the process of getting the rest of Trek on physical media!

Yup, looks like he won a lot of awards in his career. www.imdb.com/name/nm00012...

Same age! I remember enough to know what it was like when it was new & then it was in re-runs for several years after. When it was first airing I wasn't really old enough to understand TV programming so I kept thinking oh this will be the live action one but then it's TAS or vice-versa!

I've always wanted someone to try and model that version of the enterprise in 3-D!

I'm having flashbacks to my lining room as a kid! We have that same chair and a similar table!

My "NO!" was a "Why has Memory Alpha not fixed this?!" not you! The book as been out for six years (which I can't believe - time is broken) you think they would get around to a correction.
February 15, 2026 at 6:29 AM
It wasn't your mistake it was Memory Alpaha! We always thought if there really was a colored blind art director, someone would have said something to him years before He-Man was filled with pink and purple! Filmation was very regimented the AD couldn't pick colors w/out approval from the colorist.

NO! That is an urban myth!
