This deep area of low pressure is expected to bring very strong winds & heavy rain to northern & western parts of the UK later Friday & into Saturday.

Summer 2025 was officially the warmest summer on record for the UK, according to provisional data from the @metoffice.gov.uk

Met Office climate scientists found that a summer as hot or hotter than 2025 is now 70 times more likely because of climate change.

The UK is in its 4th major heatwave of the summer.

🔴Highs of 25–33°C — up to 12°C above average — are at least 5× more likely due to human-caused climate change (almost impossible without it), impacting tens of millions through the weekend.

The @metoffice.gov.uk have issued an amber wind warning for central and northern Scotland for Monday ⚠️

Storm Floris will bring unseasonably strong and disruptive winds.

Wind gusts of 50-70 mph are expected for many and are likely to reach 80-90 mph on some exposed coasts, hills and bridges.

The UK has recorded its sunniest spring on record according to provisional figures from the Met Office.

This spring, the UK recorded 630 hours of sunshine from 1st March to 27th May, beating its previous sunniest spring set in 2020. The records go back to 1910.
