Let's go, lesbians!
Trans lesbians and gender non-conforming lesbians have always existed. Whether butch, femme, stud, or something else, lesbians have been smashing the gender binary since the beginning and we love them for it.

Today is World Suicide Prevention Day. If you are an LGBTQIA+ person in the UK who could do with somebody else from the community to talk to, why not reach out to Switchboard?

Research has shown that support from friends, families, and communities can have a huge positive impact on trans people’s mental health.

It’s up to all of us to create the kind of world where trans and non-binary people can thrive.

We stand in solidarity with all those seeking safety in the UK. The demonisation of asylum seekers and refugees by the media and politicians echoes the same right-wing rhetoric we see about the trans community. It's vital we stand together.

Had a bit more energy today, so jarred up my honey. 24 jars that will raise £60 for @genderedintelligence.co.uk
Three jars of Bee Yourself Honey. I've redacted my phone number from the label (contact details are required by law). If my fans on Mumsnet want it, they can give Gendered Intelligence & me some money. The tamperproof sticker on a jar, which reads, "50% of proceeds from this jar will be donated to Gendered Intelligence to improve the lives of trans people." The honey jars seen from above, showing that the tamperproof stickers have a cartoon bee in trans pride colours (an altered Canva stock image) on the lids.

Can trans people still be included in spaces for women or men?

Right now, there’s a lot of confusion around single sex spaces, toilets, and whether trans people can be excluded. We’ve answered the questions we’re being asked on our support lines.

Learn more: tinyurl.com/4hk5zp3h
Can trans people still be included in spaces for women or men?

Yes. Keep living your life.

The Supreme Court Judgement does not prevent spaces or services from being inclusive of trans people.

A women’s football team or girls' club could describe themselves as a women’s space or girls’ group, and include trans women and girls.

A men’s mental health group could describe itself as a men’s group or a men's space, and include trans men.

If you are excluded and it doesn’t feel safe to challenge it, record it. Check out 'What are my rights?' for more info.

🚨The Government have released new trans-exclusive Relationships and Sex Education guidance🚨

Read our full explanation of the changes and our response ▶️ bit.ly/46bplzP
The Government have released new trans-exclusive Relationships and Sex Education guidance.
They have weakened schools’ responsibilities to provide equal and fair education about trans people.
Schools have been told to teach about ‘biological sex’ but not necessarily ‘gender identity’,
They have been told that there is ‘significant debate’ about trans people and trans issues.
They have also been told not to encourage students to question their gender.
This puts pressure on schools to be less supportive of trans pupils, and could allow for trans pupils to be bullied in the classroom under the guise of ‘debate’. Is this the new Section 28?
Yes and no.
Section 28 banned promotion of homosexuality in schools.
The new RSE guidance does not ban teachers or young people from talking about trans issues in the classroom or from being trans and proud.
The Department for Education have made clear that they want to pressure teachers to avoid teaching about trans lives, and to shut down support of trans students in the classroom.
Even if this is not a legislative ban in the same way as Section 28, it is in the same spirit.
There is no doubt that this will make it harder for trans pupils to have a healthy and happy education. What is Gendered Intelligence’s view?
School is a place to explore identity and figure out who you are in the world. Questions about sex, gender, and sexuality are normal and healthy.
We’re already seeing trans young people dropping out of school or suffering from poor mental health because of bullying and exclusion. We’re worried that this will get worse if the government pushes trans exclusion in the classroom.
The new guidance addresses worrying trends in violence and hate in schools but fails to recognise that this violence and hate stems from the same root cause as trans exclusion - misogyny. What can I do?
1.	Write to the Minister for Education, Bridget Phillipson, and tell her what you think of the new guidance:
 bridget.phillipson.mp@parliament.uk
2.	Write to the Minister for Equalities, Dame Nia Griffiths, and tell her what you want to see from the government to support trans people:
nia.griffith.mp@parliament.uk
You don’t need to be an expert or send a long email. If you’re a student, teacher, or a parent/guardian make sure you include this.
We’re working on our own guidance to help teachers and educators understand how they can keep providing inclusive RSE under these changes, and we’re providing support to trans young people and their families.
