not with me on it, but if you are curious about workflows for non model organisms that can help in quantifying high impact variants and hopefully genetic load, find the poster P03.060 today - the one with the boaring pig in the bottom 🫡

I am starting a computational lab at LIOS, Riga, Latvia, and going to recruit a few people. Please DM if you are interested in a postdoc or PhD position in my Metabolic Research Group within the TARGETWISE project. I can highly recommend Riga, it is a beautiful city with very good living conditions.

that feeling when your prediction model accuracy including 10 fold cross validation turns out surprisingly well but you dont trust it and are afraid it is overfitted...

That feeling when you are in a focus group meeting discussing eDNA to measure and monitor biodiversity and pros and cons, and Amanda's review exploring exactly that pops up in your feed
💪🎉
congrats @amandalindahl.bsky.social for your first publication!

**whole genome alignment... 🧬😊
geneticjulia.bsky.social
based on the mouse, pig and chicken CADD work from Wageningen University and Research she now includes several hundred annotation features to score variants while also presenting some use-cases and validation in the melanogaster system

yayy! 🎉

by reworking the whole framework, using a recently available large drosophila while genome alignment, she now has genome wide impact prediction scores for melanogaster

I attended last year, and highly recommend it - even as a postdoc having a long(er) background in popgen!

After not having been active in popgen during my PhD, this course was the perfect mix of freshening up old knowledge and getting the latest state-of-the-art solutions and updates.
