Geneva Call's Alain Délétroz met with MEP and @europarl.europa.eu DEVE Committee coordinator @charlesgoerens.bsky.social.

Discussions centred on Ukraine, the Sahel & growing attacks on #IHL.

Upholding IHL is vital to protect civilians & maintain a minimum of humanity in times of conflict.

📢 We were happy to contribute with an article on a critical challenge in humanitarian action — misinformation and disinformation in conflict settings.

Our piece draws on field experience with armed groups and de facto authorities and explores proactive, responsive and precautionary strategies.

On this #WorldHumanitarianDay, we demand action for humanitarians. We condemn the failure to protect them and those they serve. We remember those we’ve lost and say: end impunity. #ActforHumanity

To those with power and influence.

Last year, we called on you to act:
🔴Respect the rules of war.
🔴Protect humanitarians and civilians.
🔴End impunity.

Nothing changed.

How much more suffering will you ignore?

On #WorldHumanitarianDay, we urge you to #ActForHumanity – now.
genevacall.org
The normalization of violence against humanitarian workers and lack of accountability must end. Humanitarian personnel, assets and space to operate must be protected. Attacks on them must stop.
voiceeu.bsky.social
Every day, humanitarian workers risk their lives to support people in need, often in the most dangerous conditions.

This #WorldHumanitarianDay, we call on Member States to #ActForHumanity and ensure their protection.
Remember that humanitarians are #NotATarget!

On #WorldHumanitarianDay on 19 August, we honour humanitarian workers everywhere, commemorate those we have lost to increasing violence, and rally support for people affected by crises around the world.
unocha.org
19 August is #WorldHumanitarianDay.

Last year, we urged leaders to stop the killing of aid workers.

They listened – then looked away.

This year, we sound the alarm with sharper urgency:
❗ Protect humanitarians.
❗ Respect the rules of war.
❗ End impunity.
