I am requesting assistance in geolocating where exactly “Tarasin village” is in Sudan. I’ve been attempting to geolocate for 2 hours now to the north, northeast, or east of the Jebel Marra volcano with no luck. This is so I can make a video discussing the #landslide. #geolocation

Asking for part of a future video I want to make; have there been any paleontology, interesting fossil finds/interpretations, or paleogeology finds in the last 5 years that would count as major discoveries? I already know of the recent discovery explaining the lack of mid sized dinosaurs.

I don’t think anyone noticed, but India’s Barren Island volcano is erupting again. #india #geology #volcano

Question. Other than Papua New Guinea, what countries do we not truly have a good idea of what the current population is?

For some reason the defense.gov website states that just under “420,000 Japanese” were killed in the battle of Leyte Gulf. It also gives a horribly inaccurate total for American casualties in that pivotal ww2 battle.

Opinion; moving Indonesia’s Awu volcano from slight to moderate unrest in my personal volcanic unrest scale. (Scale goes from no unrest, slight unrest, minor unrest, moderate unrest, to significant unrest). #awu #indonesia #volcano

Any questions regarding the Myanmar / Burma earthquake? Looking for questions to answer in tomorrow’s video

(American) Football fans, I am looking for some advice. Is there a legitimately reason to attend an Arena football league, or is it still a shitshow like it was 1-2 years(?) ago.

That Thailand (Bangkok) skyscraper in my opinion was poorly designed and shouldn’t have collapsed after only experiencing MMI IV (4) shaking. It is a classic example of a soft story building. (1/2) #thailand #bangkok #earthquake

We sadly have our first confirmed direct volcanic eruption fatality of 2025. Cause: burned by pyroclastic surge 5.2 km away from Lewotobi’s Laki Laki cone summit during its major eruption last week. :(

When discussing economic damage caused by volcanic eruptions, should I remove “lost business” (example, flights are grounded but no damage occurs)? I worry including them in comparison graphics can make the charts very west-centric when other world volcanoes can also be quite dangerous.

It appears that the Lewotobi volcano produced a very large explosion. Details upcoming.

I am planning on making a video on what to do as precautions during light to moderate ashfall during a volcanic eruption. Precautions for gasoline engine cars are already known to me. However, what I do not know is what precautions must be made for purely electric vehicles?

For the 5,000th time I’m not debating pseudoscientists, as I don’t want to give attention to their nonsense. If I appear on their program, I’ll be granting them the audience they crave. However, I will debunk bad claims that are made by the same lot from time to time. (1/3)

Science problem. I recall reading a bit of text with key interesting volcano information, but when I try to cite it I can’t find the original source. This often happens when I’m reading a scientific paper for fun and not for a project but later want to reference it in a project.

I swear, I feel like a 21st century luddite when specifically looking at 99.9% of modern AI tech. Most of it in my opinion is utterly useless, but confidently incorrect in its statements. I guarantee this will be considered one of my “bad takes” but the technology feels all hype no substance to me.

Asking for a “friend”. Can we call a 1.7 km wide portion of a caldera suddenly losing 8 m elevation a caldera collapse event if snow & ice are not involved?

Ok, we now have our first apparent heat signature from the Fentale volcano after its major M6.0 earthquake. Could be hotter geothermal fluids, hot gas, hot fumaroles which are new, wildfires, hot ground, or actual shallow magma or lava. We do not know which is the case yet. #ethiopia #volcano

Question. Is there an official or unofficial ruleset for how to classify a single waterfall’s height? Must the waterfall always be running, or a minimum number of days a year? And do we only count single drops? Asking because a certain spot in Canada may have an unnamed absurdly tall waterfall…

Question for my fellow geoscientists. Is the summit region of Ethiopia’s Fentale volcano experiencing overall uplift or overall subsidence during the last 14 days? #fentale
