i assume the avatar movies are very successful despite their bad writing and generic plots because the message couldn’t be simpler: humans will destroy everything they touch and it is deeply heroic to resist their cruelty.

it seems obvious to me that the mass spectacle of infinite media endlessly competing for every second of your time is leading a lot of people to engage less with their real lives as they become increasingly unable to handle any inconvenience or discomfort and use therapy language to excuse themself

My sense is that the “male loneliness crisis” is not really about addressing men’s emotional needs but rather the relatively newfound absence of having someone to perform domestic labor for you quietly in the background now that there is a longer gap between your mother and your wife doing it

This all goes back to 2020. Biden was a truly awful pick. Awful in the campaign, awful at messaging even before the health stuff, an uninspiring elderly leader. Stepping down after that debate was the best decision he ever made. Kamala’s entire effort is the only reason the House is close.
