I remember everything smelling of smoke in Australia in the '80s. Everywhere, smokers were catered for, often with a shoebox-sized metal ashtray on the floor printed with "Smokers please". I remember them in the café where Dad used to buy us donuts after weekend shopping trips!

I've got a friend called Lucy White. So glad she's not the same person as this Lucy White, who would, if she was in charge, ensure that neither you or I could vote here. I do remember teachers telling us at school that we needed to be able to do mental arithmetic because we wouldn't always have a calculator with us when we were adults. Then mobile phones happened!

Reminds me of when we were house-hunting and looked at a house that looked like a regular S.London house outside, but inside, we soon christened it "the brothel house". The owner was lovely though. Very proud of her home decor style, bless her! And honestly, it was only the location that put us off.

And I bet he was always ranting about immigrants not integrating when he lived here - yet there he is in Moscow, unable to speak Russian, despite having a Russian wife, and unwilling to fight for his new country!
