OK, here we go again... Will this turn into a hellsite like the other place? How long before I get a creepy message? Will I get plagued with mansplainers? Here's hoping that none of that happens and this becomes a constructive place on the internet.

Sometimes, I'm mistaken for a Jewish woman and I receive anti-Semitic abuse. It happened this morning. I'm not going to repeat the lazy, racist trope because it doesn't deserve further airplay, but let it be known that I'm not offended if I'm mistaken for a Jewish woman. I love my Jewish friends.

Telling a business that has been in the same place for 44 years that it has a month to get out - and delivering that news a week before Christmas is shameful

A gentle reminder if you've received an invoice from a Freelancer/Self employed person which is due before Christmas.

Be a love, and pay it today.

Rob Reiner either made your favorite movie, or made somebody you know’s favorite movie. If you’re a Californian, he’s also part of the reason you or your friends can get married. He has changed more lives for the better than this asshole commenting on him ever did.

—No, holy water as usual. Weird thing to ask honestly

I'm not going to share Trump's appalling, unhinged response to the murder of Rob and Michele Reiner, suffice to say there is no bottom with that man, no depth too deep to plumb, the barrel was reduced to a few splinters years ago.

Absolutely heartbreaking. Say his name - Alex Kleytman - rather than those of the murderous arseholes who killed him in cold blood. Alex Kleytman survived the horrors of the holocaust, but he was not safe on Bondi Beach. I'm devastated my home country couldn't protect him. people.com/wife-remembe...
Wife Remembers Hero Husband Who Died Saving Her Life During Hanukkah Shooting: 'He Raised Himself Up to Protect Me'

Boyfriend is a twat who has clearly never worked in hospitality. Honestly, love, just admit you pissed yourself. It's OK. It happens.
Wet myself walking home from after work drinks. Told my boyfriend the waitress dropped my cocktail in my lap whilst putting it on the table. He phoned the bar to complain. Sorry, "Lauren".

Yeah, I think I'll give the US a miss for a bit. My passport full of Middle East and African stamps was scrutinised enough back in 2009 - and it was only because I explained that I was going to Detroit for the motor show to write about the car industry that I finally got a warm welcome.
Jeez. All tourists - including those from Britain - will have to undergo a social media screening before being allowed entry into the US under new plans being considered by the country's border force

US plans to start checking all tourists' social media
The potential social media mandate being proposed by Customs and Border Protection (CBP) would apply to anyone visiting, whether they require a visa or not.

Within 20 minutes of arriving in Moscow, I saw a man being robbed with a gun to the back of his head. Sure, you fucking halfwit, it is completely safe.
Today I asked the former council Tory candidate, who has gone to live in Russia on an “anti-woke” visa and whose business wants others to do the same, what so attracted him to live under the kleptocratic, murderous Russian regime. This was our exchange.

I'm posting this so I don't forget to share something with @sturdyalex.bsky.social and @pimlicat.bsky.social once it's published... It's something really interesting and hopeful about UK-Germany relations that I edited for a liberal European think tank. I'm posting this to hold myself accountable!

Ppl who always post about how they hate Harry&Meghan/share H&M articles always whine that they can't escape attention-seeking H&M. But they give H&M attention so their feed fills with H&M. The algorithm doesn't care what they think of Harry&Meghan. It just calculates they want MORE HARRY & MEGHAN!

This made me laugh way more than it should have. Like idiots in the UK who think tea is grown in Yorkshire.
"Does this feel like or look like a well-run competent administration? It took them 10 months to discover that the United States doesn't grow bananas and that therefore if we tariff bananas that that's not going to bring banana factories on shore."

The overt misogyny being shown by the RW press against the Chancellor is chilling. They just hate women and are happy to let everyone know it.
Pleased to discover that slightly misnaming the national chess championship you won as a school child is a much more serious offence than repeatedly racially abusing your fellow pupils and telling them they should go to the gas chamber

This is how Chris Mason, like a child filled with wonder, described "the choreography and theatre that surrounds a Budget" in Feb 2024, when a male Tory Chancellor was in post.

"Plans, or even just options, can be floated... Reaction to them can be tested. Opponents can be teased or wrongfooted." 👀

Yes! This! I just posted this sentiment. Hasn't that braying, stubbled jack-o'-lantern been in Reform for ages? I've had a general anaesthetic today, so I may be confused...
this, but for Jonathan Gullis defecting to Reform
You know when a famous person dies and you're surprised because you'd assumed they must already be dead? That, but for Nadine Dorries defecting to Reform.

Not going to lie (and I do pay pretty close attention to politics), I genuinely thought Gullis joined Reform ages ago. Did I dream that???!
As Jonathan Gullis joins Reform UK, it's only fair to remind people of this.

All forgotten, is it, Dickie? ~AA
