It’s entirely possible that there will be players at the 2030 World Cup who weren’t born the last time it was held in a functioning democracy

Anyway, the All Ireland hurling final is set to clash with the world cup final, so I know which I’ll be watching

That’s too much soccer
There were 64 matches in the 2022 World Cup.

In 2026, the first 72 matches (12 groups of 4) will send 16 teams home, while 32 go through to the last 32 games that decide the World Cup

Corbyn and Sultana's new party is likely to benefit from factors for which it can claim no credit.

New from David Renton on The Lead as he considers what next for Your Party
Did Your Party's conference do enough to turn the tide of its disastrous beginnings?

No one could write like Stoppard. No one had a sense of theatre like Stoppard. He was a man of tremendous principle who treasured both England and a particularly English form of personal liberty while remaining engaged by the fate of dissidents east of the Iron Curtain.

Emma does a great job debunking this BS claims. A further point is that's kind of incredible to see so many UK newspapers side with millionaires when most of the readers they need to reach live on low salaries and benefit from better funded public services
Wow - this guy must be really, REALLY bad with money if an extra £208 per month will “ruin” his retirement.

Let’s take a look at his situation based on what he told the @Telegraph

Because this does NOT add up!

No, this is not a “poor pensioner” scrabbling around for pennies…

One of the least appealing things about British Trotskyists is their bleating whenever people correctly identify their shenanigans. If there’s a witch hunt, it’s because your long tradition of damaging witchcraft suggests it might be necessary
Your Party member: "I used to help run Labour Against the Witch Hunt, which was directed against Jeremy Corbyn. Now Corbyn is running a witch hunt... is this ridiculous or what? we have to stand up and say, we're not. We're not going to take this"

Great analysis from @zoegrunewald.bsky.social for @theleaduk.bsky.social on today’s budget. Echoes my own thoughts about an overall sense of unambitious tinkering, despite some clear positives (2 child cap finally lifted)

The Lead's budget verdict: technocratic tweaks to a broken system
Lifting the two-child benefit is welcome, but Rachel Reeves' tax and spend plans fall far short of the financial shake up this country needs

Remember when Joshi Hermann accidentally broke the embargo for George Osborne’s budget by tweeting the Standard’s front page?

Mad that of all the things mentioned there, Joshi Herrmann is the one still standing
I cannot handle the incompetence at every level.

In newspapers, if you break an embargo (even a less serious one) you can end up in a disciplinary.

Why isn’t the government and its associated agencies taking the business of RUNNING THE COUNTRY more seriously than the work of bunch of hacks?
