Today marks the start of Baby Loss Awareness Week.

This year, it comes as the UK is about to pass a law guaranteeing the right to bereavement leave for miscarriage, making us one of only 4 countries in the world to offer it.

My heart is with everyone who experiences the heartbreak of baby loss.

I have been pregnant six times and have only one living child. Each baby was so wanted. My hardest loss was a stillbirth due to a lethal skeletal dysplasia, it broke me into a million pieces. I really welcome this legislation.

Great to join @helenhayes.bsky.social and members in Dulwich and West Norwood today to speak to voters and talk about my campaign.

We have crucial elections in London next May and we’ll only win by reuniting our broad voter coalition and the country.

“I’m not in the business of spreading Project Fear.”

Lucy Powell hits back at rival Bridget Phillipson’s “ludicrous” claim her appointment as Deputy Leader would “energise their opponents.”

I’m pleased that support is being rolled out to students studying technical qualifications - as well as students on traditional degree courses. This is a great way to make sure that we have a workforce fit for the future. Read my column

It took moving school for my son to be identified as dyslexic.

Early screening and diagnosis for people with dyslexia is absolutely essential. Being able to put in support early helps students to thrive at school, which sets them up for success for the rest of their life.

Videos shared online are making false claims about the government launching “one of the harshest crackdowns UK drivers have ever seen” this month.

The government hasn’t announced the changes described in the videos, and they appear to use fake audio of the Prime Minister.
The government hasn’t announced ‘one of the harshest crackdowns’ UK drivers have ever seen – Full Fact
A government spokesperson confirmed claims circulating on social media about driving rules are “untrue” and that no new “crackdown” has been announced.

Today’s update from the Independent Office for Police Conduct around accelerated misconduct proceedings is unprecedented and sends a clear message that any officers who display the kind of behaviour we saw on Panorama will face serious consequences - fast.

Enjoyed talking to @mattchorley.bsky.social yesterday about what kind of Deputy Leader I would be. An authentic voice, and a bridge back into our communities.

When I entered Parliament the first Cabinet Minister to check-in on how I was settling in was @lucympowell.bsky.social

She has always showed an interest in what rural MPs, like me, hoped to achieve & found ways to help us stand up for our constituencies.

Proud to have voted for Lucy today.

Very welcome news this morning from the Middle East. There’s still a long way to go but we all hope for these first steps immediately - a ceasefire, substantial aid and support getting in, hostages freed, and the death and destruction stopping.

This is why I'm supporting @lucympowell.bsky.social for Deputy Leader of the Labour Party.

One of the best parts of my job since the election was getting to know and supporting our brilliant new MPs make their mark. They are our strength.

See why so many are voting for me to be Deputy Leader.

This morning’s news of a deal being reached for the first phase of a ceasefire in Gaza is a moment of hope at a time when endless violence felt inevitable.
Statement from Sarah Owen MP that reads:

This morning’s news of a deal being reached for the first phase of a ceasefire in Gaza is a moment of hope at a time when endless violence felt inevitable.

It will come as an enormous relief for the millions who have been trapped in Gaza and faced endless bombardment from the Israeli military, famine and forced displacement. It will also come as a relief for the hostages and their families. All have endured unimaginable suffering.

The plan must now be implemented in full. There must be no delay to an end to the Israeli military’s offensive in Gaza, nor to an immediate increase in aid reaching civilians in Gaza. It must also be the start of a longer process, supported by allies in the region, leading to a two-state solution.

May this moment of hope be the start of the end for a war that has caused unconscionable suffering to Palestinians, Israelis and countless others in the Middle East.

I've just voted for @lucympowell.bsky.social for Deputy Leader of the Labour Party. Lucy can be a full-time leader working across the Party, with members, activists, councillors, MPs and the leadership to see this Government succeed.

I’ll be a full time Deputy Leader, outside Cabinet, but alongside government. In every constituency, every council, every community.

Ballots open today. Vote for me to be your strong independent voice at the top of the Party.

Bolton Council has been allocated £1.5m from the Pride of Place funding for High Streets. I'm pleased that communities will gain new powers to take over boarded-up shops, preserve local pubs or libraries, and clean up area eyesores. These powers will also help combat suspected money-laundering.
