Voting opened today for Labour’s deputy leader. I’m supporting Lucy Powell as a strong, full time progressive voice for change

Reform UK Kent Councillor and Cabinet member Chris Hespe would rather save Adolf Hitler from a burning building than a trans person.

There’s more.

I’ll be a full time Deputy Leader, outside Cabinet, but alongside government. In every constituency, every council, every community.

Ballots open today. Vote for me to be your strong independent voice at the top of the Party.

Bolton Council has been allocated £1.5m from the Pride of Place funding for High Streets. I'm pleased that communities will gain new powers to take over boarded-up shops, preserve local pubs or libraries, and clean up area eyesores. These powers will also help combat suspected money-laundering.

I’ve been leading the debate in this campaign. When members voices are heeded and heard we make better decisions.

I’m proud to have run a positive campaign setting out my pitch to be a full time Deputy Leader.

I’m going to keep it positive with the reasons I’m standing and how I would do the job.

Unity of purpose comes not from command and control but by taking people with us & winning the argument.

As a full time Deputy Leader I will tell a stronger story about what Labour is for, whose side we’re on, the good things that we are doing.

Ballots begin to drop today.

Remember, members decide their Deputy. It’s a party role not a government one.

In the great traditions, I would be a distinctive voice, the members voice, full-time.

Right back at ya @roswynnejones.bsky.social What a lovely piece!

The truth is Ros spends every day campaigning against injustice, championing real heros, giving voice to the voiceless & tackling division wherever she sees it. Honoured to call you my friend.

“You described Reform and other parties across Europe today as among the 'right wing equivalents of the fascists in the 1930s'. Why?”

“Because that’s what they are”

Our broad movement is our strength. We need to make the most of all our talents and listen to all the voices in our Party.

Great to hear from members at my Lucy Listens event in Rochdale this weekend.

When businesses are paid on time, money flows more quickly allowing businesses to invest rather than wasting time and money chasing unpaid invoices.

I support tougher laws to ensure fast payment of invoices and penalties for persistent late payers.
Late payments: tackling poor payment practices
We are seeking views on legislative measures which address late, long and disputed business-to-business payments, and the use of retention clauses in construction contracts.

It very much depends on what you mean by integration - I've seen so many variaties of meaning ascribed to that word that I'm loath to use a short-form medium to get into it tbh.
lizzicollinge.bsky.social
Because of course in the world according to Robert Jenrick there are only two groups of people - white people and 'other' people who need to integrate.

Not to mention that Handsworth has people from Indian, Pakistani, Caribbean, African — as well as mixed race people — living alongside each other. That *is* integration, as all those (imperial!) communities have come together as part of a British national identity.
omaromalleykhan.bsky.social
Why might minorities might want to live together, why might they want to cluster for safety to avoid, say, a view that thinks they are inherently other from & a threat to you & everyone like you, such that you commend their deportation & exclusion

I wonder why they might take your words to heart

Hi Moira, an extreme substitution like using mashed banana in place of egg for an egg custard tart is not always going to work. I'm sorry that it felt like a waste of time, but sometimes one just has to acknowledge that a banana isn't an egg, you know?
