This is one of the best photos I think I've ever taken
View out of an airplane window over the wing and a seaside coastline. The sky is blue, the clouds are fluffy, and there is a shadow of the plane on the sand.

London Film Festival starts here

Not doing the fancy gala tonight (sorry I can’t be there with you, Daniel Craig)

But I am excited for Exit 8 #LFF

Was there a memo to all Atlantic tropical cyclones this year or something where they were all told to avoid the US
National Hurricane Center map of the Atlantic showing Tropical Storm Jerry to the east of the lesser Antilles with a projected path skirting the islands to the north before swinging further north and then east out to sea Map of the Atlantic showing all tropical cyclone paths for 2025, with most of them following the same general path where they appear scared to come anywhere near the US

I did not know this! Amazing stuff

I just checked and it is basically a cost thing - flu jabs have been available for decades so are very cheap, whereas covid jab is much newer and just costs a lot more

It was a real pleasure to celebrate the completion of the first of 275 new homes at Calverley Close in Beckenham.

These 20 houses, delivered by Riverside and Vistry, are at social rent levels and part-funded by the Mayor of @london.gov.uk following a ballot of existing estate residents.

Pretty bad for the NHS to shrink the age pool of people eligible for free Covid jabs

You have to be 75 or over now - a lot of people in that group will be retired, and a private jab costs £100 which is not a small amount!

"Pharmacies facing angry patients over Covid jab confusion"

"Patients have also been telling Your Voice, Your BBC News that they have been receiving text messages from the NHS and their GP asking them to come forward for their Covid jab despite not being eligible."
Pharmacies facing angry patients over Covid jab confusion
Up to half of patients coming to some pharmacies are being turned away because they are not eligible.

The fact that they can't get a random sampling of citizens from any city to indict people for interfering with ICE seems more informative than any political poll, tbh

Reminds me of this excellent sign that I saw at the Tubman African American Museum in Macon, Georgia.
Piano, which once belonged to Little Richard, with a sign on it saying "Do not attempt to play Little Richard's piano. He will know."

twice a year the entire U.S. press becomes a marketing extension of a single billionaire-owned retailer, and nobody in any position of editorial power thinks it's weird or gross

I asked a farm vet once if she preferred cows or sheep and she said cows because 'they at least have a will to live'

OK, great.

I must be one of the few people who hates the smell of lavender, and it is shoved into a lot of calming/relaxing things meaning I can't really use them

Does it have lavender in it, like the website seems to suggest?

How is this repeatedly made into a policy issue - by *all* parties - when the blunt fact of the matter is that grown adults who are obliged to pay for their own education, and relentlessly pursued to repay their loans, should be able to study whatever the fuck they want.

highland cattle have it figured out

Highland cattle are famous for their ability to "disco nap". Normally these brief, efficient sleeps will last between three and twenty minutes, deploying a variety of objects as pillows, including moorland boulders, cars or any particularly large dog or sheep who happens to be nearby.

I thought it was lunchtime so I made my lunch (jacket potato with tuna mayo) and I’ve just looked at the clock

Oh

Never mind

It was when Sam Altman actually said to investors (on camera) 'we don't know how this is going to make money, but if you give us a lot of money to build the machine, we will ask it how it is going to make money'

...that I realised it is well and truly screwed

How fucking embarrassing is it for the entire political establishment that they're being outflanked on the left by MICHAEL FUCKING HESSELTINE

“You described Reform and other parties across Europe today as among the 'right wing equivalents of the fascists in the 1930s'. Why?”

“Because that’s what they are”

@vicderbyshire.bsky.social asks Lord Heseltine about remarks he made at Conservative Party Conference.
