In 1960s England, a wind of change was blowing through the land. It had even reached the sleepy village of St Mary Mead. There was a new housing estate to make the villagers curious and fearful, and then the village was thrown into a frenzy by the news that a glamorous American film star had bought the Manor House. Miss Jane Marple, confined to a chair after an accident, wondered if life had passed her by. Then a vicious murder left Miss Marple to unravel a web of lies, tragedy and danger.

As a contrast it’s worth seeing their Star Treatment Show appearance from 1979 which should be on the #TPTV Encore catch-up service. Less aggressive though perhaps not as interesting as this #AtTheWheeltappers or their 1980s appearances.

Early Cannon and Ball was very brash. Bold, shouty and aggressive. A real mix of old style working men’s club comedy with the freshness of the alternatives to come. #AtTheWheeltappers
