My new book with @markwitton.bsky.social on Spinosaurus and their relatives is out a month today! It's available for preorder, so now is the time to get in on this amazing and well-illustrated book on these oddest of #dinosaurs. But don't take our word for it, here's what others have to say:

Komodosaurus. A genetically modified monitor lizard, engineered to mimic the appearance of a theropod dinosaur. Very popular amongst wealthy collectors, and a very, very bad idea.

To brighten up a wet and rainy #FossilFriday, here's my take on the recently described drepanosaur Mirasaura grauvogeli. It's shown among the conifer Voltzia, a plant found in abundance in the same beds as Mirasaura. The pointed sail shape is based on fossil data...

More exciting news! I am now able to share with you more of the concept art I did for the amazing upcoming NBC Universal show “Surviving Earth” premiering next year! This time for a fan favorite, Dimetrodon!

I can’t say much more than this for now 🙊

It's true, #PrehistoricPlanet Ice Age is coming to #AppleTV for November 2025. These images show how good our animals are, but... believe me, this barely scratches the surface!! It has been a massive thrill and privilege to help bring this series together... you're in for an incredible treat.
Prehistoric Planet Ice Age image showing two homotheres interacting in a snowy landscape. Prehistoric Planet Ice Age image showing two Woolly rhino, a calf and old adult. Prehistoric Planet Ice Age image showing a glyptodont. Prehistoric Planet Ice Age image showing a mother sloth climbing up a rocky surface, baby on her back.

Here it is! Please welcome the AMAZING Mirasaura grauvogeli, a NEW MARVELOUS Drepanosaur published in NATURE today!
This astonishing reptile lived during the Middle Triassic in Europe and it possessed an amazing crest made of plume-like structures!

I was commissioned to bring it to life

Ok… so the cat is out of the bag and I can FINALLY start talking about this. I just confirmed with Tim I can say that I did a lot of concept art, like this baby Spinosaurus, for the new docuseries #SurvivingEarth coming out in 2026!

So excited for you guys to see this!

New #paleoart for #FossilFriday, to be posted to #Patreon soon: countershaded #ichthyosaur Stenopterygius spams a lagoon with uniformly dark offspring (colour schemes suggested by fossils). Some ichthyosaur specimens have been found with 11 embryos, each 25% of adult body length. Yikes. #sciart
A mother ichthyosaur swims upside down, straining with the effort of expelling the last of her eleven babies. She is darker on her upper surface and pale below, while her offspring are entirely dark. She is giving birth in a shallow lagoon with abundant, low-growing green algae and patches of phaceloid corals. The births are unlike those of mammals in being relatively bloodless, though the amniotic sacs that contained each baby float in the water. The newborn ichthyosaurs still have their yolk sacs attached, which their siblings are eating as their first meals. Some of the eleven are swimming away from their mother, already independent and able to forage for themselves.

The Triassic #pterosaur relative Scleromochlus taylori is an animal I've drawn several times over the last decade, making it a yardstick for where my #paleoart was vs. where it is today. The images here are from 2025 (finished this morning), 2015 and 2014, respectively. #fossil #sciart #paleontology
Art from 2025: Surrounded by sweeping, shadowed dunes tinted gold by the rising sun, rival gangs of Scleromochlus intimidate one another from afar. They leap into the air, exposing their white undersides and showing their vigour. These animals differ from the Scleromochlus in my previous paintings thanks to recent anatomical reinterpretations of this hitherto poorly-known species. Art from 2015: an image of two Scleromochlus leaping around like tiny reptilian kangaroos. This means of locomotion is no longer considered likely. This image is a light reworking of the image to the right. Art from 2014: a single Scleromochlus bounces over a dune in front of Triassic desert vegetation.

Today is #WorldCrocodileDay and to celebrate here is Plesiosuchus mansellii, a super interesting marine crocodilian relative that lived during the Late Jurassic in Europe

Plesiosuchus was a thalattosuchian, a group of crocodylomorph that evolved extreme aquatic adaptations

Realising that #FossilFriday is sneaking away, so I'll quickly post some #paleoart of the giant #pterosaur Hatzegopteryx to avoid missing out. I painted this back in 2019 but gave it a 30-minute spruce up today to sort out some compositional and colour issues. #sciart #fossil
"It's... pink" says Guybrush Pthreepwood, a large pterosaur walking along a rocky trail overlooking a coastal plain and sea. The sky beyond is yellowish, but Guybrush is right: that's a super pink set of clouds. Undeterred, he walks on, continuing his quest for the Ultimate Insult. He hopes Murray the Skull is some sort of cool dinosaur skull in this universe.
