In honor of PAUL KLEE's bday, I share his 'Pine' Tree, 1932.

Upon his return from Tunisia, he said, “Color possesses me. I don't have to pursue it. It will possess me always, I know it. That is the meaning of this happy hour: Color and I are one. I am a painter.”

Happy Birthday Paul Klee
Dec 18, 1879 – June 29, 1940

Klee created over 10,000 works. We only see about 10 percent of any artists work. But it takes the other 90 percent to get there.

You can be busy, and stuck. Motivated and misaligned. Passionate and misdirected. But only when your Brand shows up fully aligned will it attract the right people. Work on your Brand. It’s easier. #artpreneur

Love love love the work of this man.
Happy birthday Stuart Davis. The sociopolitically minded artist, famous for murals, printmaking, and bold, almost frenetic paintings that often include text and ideological messages, was born today in 1892.

This is so true about small business. It’s so FUN to START. Then the discipline begins. It’s just SO DAILY. The monkey wrenches. The metamorphosis that will inevitably take place. This is why entrepreneurs must have a purpose bigger than themselves. Normal supplies of energy will run out.

Happy Bill of Rights Day.
"Liberty's too precious a thing to be buried in books, Miss Saunders. Men should hold it up in front of them every single day of their lives and say, 'I'm free — to think and to speak. My ancestors couldn't, I can, and my children will.” #BillofRights

Pardon the butcher of Edvard's name. His name is pronounced Moonk--not Moonch. I have heard people say it both ways. “Moonk”, I believe, is correct. But, when I made up the poem (above), “Moonch” works better because it rhymed with "loonch". (You have to have a mind like mine! Try to keep up!)

Happy Birthday Edvard Munch
Dec 12, 1863 – Jan 23, 1944

Spring Plowing 1916.

While looking at his less famous works, I wrote this little limerick:

Happy Birthday Edvard Munch
Of paintings, he painted a boonch.
Had he painted today,
in the social media way,
He would have painted his loonch.

Charles Schulz introduced children, not only to Charlie Brown and Snoopy and all the wonderful Peanuts characters, but also the outstanding music of Vince Guaraldi (and Beethoven!).

Christmas wouldn't be the same without it.

A Charlie Brown Christmas turns 60 today! Premiering on December 9th, 1965.

But CBS thought it would flop.

“A Charlie Brown Christmas” would go on to win a Peabody and an Emmy for outstanding children’s programming.

Your identity design is a tool you will use for many yrs. It is a FLAG that explains what you are all about. It tells potential clients what they can expect, & if you are well-managed––or NOT––as the case may be. What is the value of any other tool you use for 5+ yrs?? @designonething.bsky.social

This is underwhelming following last year's anemic purple. WHITE. In other words, non-committal, not enough of anything to be judged. Safe, unless you think too hard about it. Sorta like answering the question, 'what is your favorite color?' with 'clear'.

This is the first time Pantone has chosen a shade of white. The company says it's "a lofty white that serves as a symbol of calming influence in a society rediscovering the value of quiet reflection."

Love his work. He was well known for his jazz-influenced paintings of the 1940s & 1950s––bold, brash, and colorful. It combines three of my loves: art, graphic design, & jazz.

Big data is so valuable to marketers and advertisers. But when you think about it, the things that are really valuable in life cannot be measured. Social Media thinks you are a data point. To me, you are a friend! What things should be listed on your balance sheet?
