Seriously short sighted decision. Really odd, to be honest.

I completely agree with you, Ciara. Four houses on our road have put up decorations already. It's a practice I don't really understand. Christmas is in that's where decorations should stay. To be clear, I love Christmas, and we put up lots of decorations, but not in November!

I would say that 45 minutes without caffeine is impressive. I wouldn't last 15 minutes!

I know. When it's good, it's good.

Commercialism kicks in, followed by globalisation and Halloween is everywhere! Big time! Lots of commercial potential too!

Is that okay for a deadline induced brief summary of where Halloween came from?

Irish emigrate to the USA and take Halloween with them. Over time alterations occur, pumpkins for turnips, trick or treating (invented by very religious Americans as a way to take paganistic aspects out of the day. Yeah, I know, lets dress up as monsters, it's more acceptable to God. 😂) Then... 2/3

Halloween's origins are definitely Celtic. The ancient Irish had a belief that on October 31st, the veil between this life and the next was lifted. So, they carved turnips and put candles in it to ward off the spirits of the dead. Thats basically the origin. Then, in the 1840s onwards A LOT of 1/3

Tolkien fought in the Battle of the Somme. He saw the horrors of war, and the moments of bravery and fear within it up close.

And after all that. ALL that. He wrote Lord of the Rings. He declared true bravery and masculinity to be love, friendship and humbleness.

Musk is everything he hated.

The FG campaign has been appalling. Nasty, personal, and negative. But that's on them. The problems with Connolly remain

Connolly still has serious questions to answer over Syria, her clear anti-EU stance and questionable judgement. With respect, I dont see her as dignified, but rather as evasive.

Let's be honest, neither candidate is excellent. Both are quite flawed. They don't inspire. It is a case of choosing the least worst option.
