North-East England, helps people do useful things with data, musical taste of a teenage lesbian (according to our daughter)
But I don't believe either austerity or Brexit were regarded as good ideas by mainstream economists (to name just two of the "how've we ended up here?" contributing factors)

- those were both political decisions

As RM himself would no doubt put it, "much to agree with"

And being patient during its implementation

Interesting, council or locals taking them down?

(Can see the one's round here being up until several years of weathering erodes them)

Might be from this LSE blog post:

"When London is excluded from national productivity estimates, average living standards in the UK
fall by 14 per cent, and rank below Mississippi, America’s poorest performer."

"The pair appeared at separate events on the eve of the party's inaugural gathering."

Wondering who owns all those cars I routinely see filling up the local Aldi/Lidl/Tesco/Sainsbury's etc. car parks pretty much every day of the week

boy there seems to be a bottomless appetite for dogmatic economic pessimism on video platforms. clicked on one of those during the morning Zwift and now my youtube feed is WE'RE DOOMED re the stock market, jobs, car market, inflation, AI on and on

Just that the posted clip wasn't the whole answer
November 22, 2025 at 11:00 PM
The clip that was posted was clearly edited, I wanted to see the full answer he gave
November 22, 2025 at 10:56 PM
Watch the full clip on YT
November 22, 2025 at 10:55 PM
Not sure I'm defending him, just struck me that it's easy to go "ha, what a dick he chose a TV show when asked what his favourite film is" but the full answer he gave, to me, means that easy reaction isn't warranted
November 22, 2025 at 10:53 PM
Because I was curious as to why he gave that answer
November 22, 2025 at 10:48 PM
"now we can never get them on the sofa to watch the same thing with us at the same time" - I can totally relate to this sentiment that triggered his choice
November 22, 2025 at 10:47 PM
Ok,I watched the YT interview
November 22, 2025 at 10:44 PM
That's made my night, nice one

(also enjoyed Ian Dunt's and Duncan Weldon's)
November 22, 2025 at 10:44 PM
He provides some qualifying context before giving his answer that the edit on the original post omits, that's all - we might not agree with his politics but his full answer isn't "weird"
