Mad, bad, and dangerous to know.
That's actually not much of an exaggeration of the story they made up for Theda Bara:

(One of my favorite books, so I should have posted it before, but I'm trying to do less-obvious choices too)

That's funny because from my limited knowledge of K-pop and J-pop, must of the lyrics are pretty chaste, at least by Western standards. Blackpink seems to be a little "racier" though.
Random aside: I love the fact that Trevor Dunn (Mr. Bungle, Fantomas etc.) is an unapologetic Blackpink stan.

Jehosaphat the mongrel cat
Jumped off the roof today
Some would say he fell, but I could tell
He did himself away.

(Am I doing this right?)

I almost forgot to post this, one of my favorite poems, by Mark Strand.

Jesus Christ, this reads like an Onion story, but it's from The New York Times. Imagine being a grown-ass man and signing your emails to a sexual predator with "XOXO."

Today I learned: the Three Stooges released the first Hollywood movie to satirize the Nazis, "You Natzy Spy" on Jan. 19 1940, beating Chaplin's "The Great Dictator" by eight months. I grew up watching the Stooges, but I never saw that one. Too "controversial" I guess.

It's hard to see the front of it now, but it's cool to see how much those trees have grown in the last 22 years.

A) That's not what being homeless means.
B) If anyone deserves to actually be homeless, it's him.
C) I gotta admit, the idea of vacationing in Cyprus and going to a nightclub for some light entertainment and fuckin' Kevin Spacey walking out on stage is kinda hilarious.

Maxine is a contender (full disclosure: I couldn't remember the name of this character, so I googled "grumpy woman comic"):

Okay, this is a pleasant surprise. Genuinely didn't expect any trace of this building to still exist. Looks like it's heavily renovated, but I'm happy to see that they kept the central structure.

Wow, it looks so much better now. Sad that it got to that state of disrepair to begin with.

Still there. Wish they had kept the blue trim, it looked so much better. But still, beautiful Art Deco building.

Interestingly, the painting that inspired this poem wasn't actually by Da Vinci. It was by an unknown Flemish painter, but was mistakenly attributed to Da Vinci for years.
