Elections Alberta has approved a citizen-initiated petition application to gather signatures in support of the proposal to end public funding to independent/private schools.

Calgary teacher Alicia Taylor says she brought it forward because it could help improve funding for public schools. #AbEd

B.C. Premier David Eby is clearly beyond frustrated with Danielle Smith's pipeline dreams threatening the B.C. economy.

In a fiery statement, he called her out directly stating...

"This is not the Danielle Smith show!"

WOW!

Alberta just got another approved referendum petition!

And this one calls for the practice of funding private schools with public money to be put to an end!

During the teachers strike!

Strap in Alberta, we’re going on a ride!

As I have said on a different article on the same subject: simply stated, the UCP fund public education the lowest in Canada; private education the highest in Canada.

Their ideology on full display in the budget.

Simply stated, under the UCP public education is funded the lowest in the country; private education is funded at the highest in the country.

An amazing rally for public education. 20,000+ Albertans with one united message for Danielle Smith:

Pay the teachers.
Fund the schools.
Remind your discriminatory policies.

It is time to put the PUBLIC back in public education.

If you are wondering whether Demetrios Nicolaides can effectively manage the potential teacher's strike, this story provides relevant context. BTW he posted this photo on his Facebook page. thetyee.ca/News/2025/09...

It is World Teachers’ Day. The theme this year is advancing the teaching profession through empowerment, support, and collaboration. A theme Alberta has forgotten #redfored

When I was a kid, the dedicated teachers at St. Rose School in Edmonton showed up every day to set my peers and I up for success.

A few weeks ago, I had the chance to go back and thank the teachers doing the same for the next generation #WorldTeachersDay.

You might think that the mayor of Yellowknife, the capital of Canada's vast Northwest Territories, would be a fan of giant pickups.

Nope. He's disgusted by car bloat.

I guess there IS money then for teachers, EAs and to address classroom complexities.

Honestly if I was Carney I would agree to add a pipeline to the November list on condition that it is led by an experienced industry partner funding the project. MPO can’t circumvent the “Nine Bad Laws” anyway.

From the DM’s…

Forcing non-union healthcare workers to take unpaid time off is a heck of a way to attract healthcare workers to Alberta.

Good case study on why there’s value to having unions tho…

For being ‘broke’, the Premier sure is spending like they have a massive surplus.

How do you advance an imaginary project?

We have debated the inclusion of gender on a passport in my classes, is there are reason gender is still on this document?
gillesprefontaine.bsky.social
Agreed! However to make the point I didn’t want to create a ‘maximum’ scenario that people blow off as extreme.

The base message is that the UCP is paying TWICE a teacher’s salary to parents to avoid addressing class sizes and complexities in the classroom.
