I wrote this essay about having a book pulled. I think it speaks to issues indie writers can face when working with small publishers: lack of formal protections, imbalance of emotional labor, when "crazy writers" like myself end up being more professional than the professionals in the equation.

I rly appreciate this review. been thinking a lot about moral panic lately, how unhinged it is that trans people are being scapegoated/demonized right now by our current admin. It's much more pathetic/harmful than targeting goths in the 90s as we have more tools and access to info at our fingertips

I understand the feeling of hopelessness, but the book is not a product. It’s art, and the making of art is meaningful and human and an act of subversion in an inhumane world. We need books more than ever.
