Here’s my latest shot of the Flying Bat & Squid Nebula (SH2-129). I tried this target a couple years ago but this time I devoted 24 hours solely to the Oiii channel so the squid can easily be seen.

The Clamshell Nebula (SH2-119) is quite large but it often gets overlooked due to its next door neighbor, the North American Nebula. There are some beautiful structures in this nebula so I included a closer view of its core.

The Japanese word for Pleiades is “Subaru” which means unite. It’s also why the car logo is a group of stars. I took this using my color camera last week. Hope you like it!

I decided to shoot the Horsehead & Flame Nebulae since I already had my color camera attached for the comet. This uses no filter so it’s displaying true RGB color.

C/2025 A6 (Lemmon) from last night. I was able to stack 52 subs at 60 seconds each. I noticed that the comet’s nucleus can actually be seen by turning down the brightest areas just a touch. Check out the 2nd image for a closer look.

Here’s a wide shot of the Pelican & North American Nebulae. I used my trusty refractor telescope along with a 0.7x reducer. It was also my first time shooting monochrome on this scope #ngc7000 #northamericannebula #ic5070 #pelicannebula #space #astronomy #astrophotography #askar #fra400 #nebula

I just captured 27.5 hours of exposure time on the Pac-Man Nebula in SHO along with RGB stars. I included some closeup shots as well since social media tends to wash out the sharper details.

I just finished captured emission nebula SH2-112 in the SHO palette. This is located in the constellation Cygnus near the Pelican Nebula. I rarely see this one featured so I wanted to give it the attention it so rightly deserves. 🤩

This time I put in over 34 hours into the Crescent Nebula. I was quite disappointed in my previous attempt which was seriously lacking Oiii data. I and devoted more than twice the time and even had enough clear skies to capture RGB stars! ⭐️

I processed this as a 2-panel mosaic of the Western Veil Nebula in the HOO palette. It includes over 26.5 hours of total exposure time across several weeks. Scroll for a closer look.

Here’s a star-forming region located next to the Lagoon Nebula. I just got over 7 hours of total exposures but it still turned out great. I processed it using two color palettes: SHO & HSO.

I shot the Rho Ophiuchi cloud complex last year as a 4-panel mosaic but I totally forgot about it until just now.I love how the bright regions in the center create a 5-pointed star. Definitely need to try this one again sometime!

This one took me 3 months! Here’s the Omega Nebula (M17) in the constellation Sagittarius. It’s approximately 5,000-6,000 light years away. I captured the nebula in the Hubble (SHO) palette but the stars are true color (RGB).

The rain stopped just long enough so that I could finish up this shot of emission nebulae NGC 6823 & 6820. It’s mostly made up of Hydrogen Alpha but there’s a tiny bit of Sulfur II and Oxygen III.

Finally completed this shot of the Whale & Hockey Stick Galaxies. It took a really long time since I only get like 2 clear nights a month lately. I still love how it turned out! 😍✨

Here’s my most recent capture of galaxy M109 which is sometimes known as the “Vacuum Cleaner Galaxy.” I’ve been gathering data on it for 3 months which felt like an eternity! 😄 This includes 28 total hours of LRGB data.

This is the Croc’s Eye Galaxy (M94) which I’ve been capturing for the past couple months. I would eventually like to retry with darker skies to get more of the outer ring details.

This is the Lagoon Nebula (M8) which is gradually returning to the night sky for the summer months. I only got 6 clear nights over 2 entire months so I made the best of them. The final color photo turned out way better than I expected!

This nebula doesn’t really have an official name so I’ve just been calling it the “3 Balls Nebula.” It’s located in the constellation Orion. I ran out of time gathering data since it now sets in the west just after sunset.

I just processed this photo of the Owl Nebula #M97 that I took a few weeks back. It’s made up of 3 concentric shells, giving the illusion that it’s out of focus. I thought the faint blue halo was a mistake on my part but it really does exist!

Barred spiral galaxy #NGC3718 is about 59 million light years away located just beneath the Big Dipper. There are also 5 tiny galaxies on the left called #Hickson56 which are about 400 million light years away. I’m so glad this shot turned out so well! #astrophotograhy #space #galaxy #telescope

Wow! 🤩 2024 was quite a productive year for my #astrophotography journey. Here are 27 of my favorites. I was able to capture each of these images from my KCMO Bortle 6 backyard.

Here’s the Fornax Propeller Galaxy #NGC1365 which is part of a galaxy cluster. It only rises 15 degrees above my horizon which isn’t ideal due to houses and streetlights. I downloaded the raw data from #TelescopeLive to create this awesome image.
