Yes, I paid for my flu jab - £20 or something - because I'm just out of qualification. The Covid jab - if you can get one - is £99!!

You are very welcome. It was a most magical evening.

Could someone ask Mr Tomlinson to show his family tree back to, IDK, 900CE?

I read her statement. I think the institute is genuinely concerned that it may be the subject of legal - and perhaps other - attack.

But I'm not sure practically how they will achieve what is intended.

I think these days very few. In the old days gaining a partnership was the gold standard ambition. Now, they would like more job security than the big companies can offer, but they really don't want to try to run a partnership. Paperwork and risk enormous
Middle way needed - my opinion only

Almost the worst bit - almost - is the fact that they all write so badly

As someone who had a mother who downsized more than once - for financial and health reasons - I am struggling to read this as anything other than entitlement on behalf of the putative family. They like granny (if she exists) living in this grand house.

That's the luxury hotel two minutes walk from the main terminal of some airport somewhere - and there will be a person making full use of the pool, despite the ringroad the other side of the hedge

I'm not quite that old but certainly didn't /won't retire on a final salary pension. Nor do I have £20k a year to save.
I suspect the thinking is more than an average return threshhold for a stocks & shares ISA would be 5+ years and pensioners can't necessarily plan that far ahead.

Oh, wouldn't be surprised.
I think it is good to have a group of economists advising the govt from outside govt, but not sure if we have it right yet.

It isn't 'strictly speaking' the government and I expect a sacrifice will be found at OBR. But it is saving financial journalists from trying to eat their lunch and listen at the same time.

Error, leak or intentional?

Wonder why they've put it out early?

This is a good thing.
I've never seen any pushback in Europe where it has been common for some time

Thanks for a considered response. Yes, Cardiff could service the south-west, if that's where the freight and people were needed. The problem is often the onward transit.
Shannon Airport used to be in the middle of nowhere, but it was needed to be that size so transatlantics could refuel.

It does mean knocking down fewer homes, which might matter to the people who live in them.
We are really not good at large scale infrastructure projects in the UK, which is a shame, particularly when the country is facing so many external threats

Can I ask what existing capacity are you suggesting using? For example, Manchester can take big jets - and does - but has the benefit of being in Manchester, for people needing to be in the north of the country.

It's dark before 4pm here in W Yorks. It's ghastly - the days are so short and dreary
November 24, 2025 at 5:17 PM
Can I suggest folks make sure to read and respond to the 'consultation' document.
@danielsohege.bsky.social has a useful thread on the bearpits to avoid in your responses

Thanks @danielsohege.bsky.social
I've added my twopennorth. I doubt it's the answers they want, but they have them now.

Dunno, he might be more like Brown than we realise. Brown wasn't good in large groups for a number of reasons.
Major is by all accounts charming.
