I am deeply honoured to have been recognized by the European Research Council with a #StartingGrant. @erc.europa.eu

With this support, my team and I will launch #MOVIOLA. Our goal is to understand how human neural progenitors decide their fate during brain development.
Two life sciences ERC Starting Grants at EPFL
Milena Schuhmacher and Gioele La Manno at EPFL’s School of Life Sciences have received European Research Council (ERC) Starting Grants. Former EPFL researcher Can Aztekin (now at Max Planck), is also ...

So honored to be awarded the ERC Starting Grant! I am very grateful for this support and looking forward to more exciting #lipidtime 🥳
Also, we will have positions available next year. So stay tuned!

Proud of these advances, achieved in great company @EPFL : @giodang.bsky.social (co-PI), with Halima Schede & Leila Alieh leading the project, and the Oates lab bringing their zebrafish expertise [2/2]

Happy to share our work on uMAIA, a framework for building metabolomic atlases from mass spectrometry imaging.
With uMAIA, we mapped the lipidome of zebrafish development, uncovering spatially organized metabolic programs .

In today’s asymmetry news…
nadlerlab.bsky.social
Why are biological membranes asymmetric, with different lipids in the two bilayer leaflets? Discovered in the 70s, lipid asymmetry is linked to many cellular processes, but why the cell needs it is largely unclear. @pavelbarahtjan.bsky.social addresses this question: www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...

Thrilled to share LUNA🌕 – our new generative AI model that reassembles tissue structures from dissociated cells! LUNA learns spatial priors over existing spatially resolved datasets with the aim to predict cell locations de novo.

Judith's magnum opus from her postdoc in our lab: a genome-integrated massively parallel reporter assay for quantitative insights into enhancer-promoter communication, AI benchmarking, variant dissection, & promoter motif characterization. It will be the foundation of her new lab @USC, Jan 2025! 🚀
