Please don't follow me unless you're cool or we have some mutuals. Not here for randos.
I probably shouldn't have stayed up til 1:30 playing Tekken, but it was nice to reconnect with my old pal: robot girl with chainsaw arms that can turn into rockets sometimes and also her head falls off and explodes but it regenerates so it's okay.

I suspected that the 1998 reboot "Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040" might suck, and I'm not wrong. There are things I like, but it's not the same thing at all.

Regardless, this is a relatable shot.

I've been watching Bubblegum Crisis (1987, English language dub), and it is *perfect* television.

For some reason, the sound never seems to work on any video I post here, so if that's the case, imagine a voice actor with no capacity for subtlety explaining that she hates cops.

Shuzo Oshimi writes about sex and gender with an openness that is nearly intolerable to bear witness to, but it's fantastic. To summarize this series: Everything hurts. Do your best.

My clean laundry remains unfolded, but I rebuilt both of my little round fans, which were problematically squeaky. In the past, I'd temporarily fixed one of them with 3-in-1 oil, but I knew all along that this was gonna be a grease job.

JK, I scanned it anyway because this is a normal way to spend 9AM on a Saturday.

That's the flattest I could get the graphic, but I'm sure somebody with chops could recover it from this. Bonus decade old photo of my daughter and I twinning

The new @hlllyh.bsky.social record came in the mail. Listening to it in full, per the included instructions.

My friend and I are gonna do some photo nerd nonsense, and I built this simulated midcentury sleaze den set that I'm proud of.

For many years, Bose made this speaker called the 901, which was--in my opinion--not great, but which frequently came mounted on cool tulip stands. I made this little side table out of one of those stands and a precut piece of wood from Lowe's.

So you don't need to borrow these?

Today I found this painting at Goodwill. Thanks universe.

Sea Nurse after listening to the new Gum Parker single, out tomorrow. Clearer, happier.

I'm not saying this is the best or correct way to do it, but I used a two stage sharpener similar to this. It's tricky to get the posture right because clearly this is an off-book application, but I just lined it up and turned the blade several rotations.

A few years ago I bought a few rolls of developed film shot somewhere in Russia during the cold war. No matter how cheesy I know it is, this blurry photo of the moon over a city skyline kinda fucks me up. No matter how alien and unknowable this time and place is, I know that Moon.

A video to demonstrate the functionality. It first does a sweep across the whole playing surface to figure out how many tracks it has before dropping at the beginning of track 1. Then I push skip and it moves to track 2.

I snagged this little linear tracking turntable yesterday and performed the necessary repairs. This is one of those models with automatic track skipping, like a CD player. It has an optical sensor that detects the gaps between tracks.

I was doing some rare, two-typewriter level bullshit this morning

I bought a cheap wind up alarm clock at a vintage sale yesterday. At first it was notably slow. I maxed out the speed control on the back, which got it close, but it was still losing a few minutes every hour. After a couple mods to juice more speed out of it, I have a good feeling about things.

Following through on a very specifically targeted glasses ad I got served earlier today. I don't wear glasses, so I'm not sure if getting sorted into one of four categories of anime characters is a normal part of the process. Please advise.

There are only so many hours of my life left to become the weirdo I strive to be, so tonight I finally subject myself to All About Mighty Lady [1984]. This 25 second clip, presented exactly as it appears in the film, is the greatest 25 seconds in this history of film.

This is the largest vintage photo negative I own, of a woman with good shoes and a cool chair pretending to operate a Cyclotron Positron Camera. It is 8x10 inches big, which is more than my scanner can handle, so I had to scan it in 12 segments and merge them.

At this point, these are tracings of reference images, which I don't feel guilty about, because I don't feel like I need to prove my freehand abilities and there is still a lot of interpretation involved, but I also feel like I need to explain it for the sake of transparency.
