I live in London, UK. I will likely boost political posts from this account, feel free to unfollow me.

I'm sorry to write about the tragic murder of Rob Reiner and his wife in this context, my heart goes out to everyone affected by their deaths.

I only managed to skim read through that disgusting, vile post by Trump once and won't repeat the experience because it makes me feel dirty.
As I see it […]

I feel naive just writing this, but a president threatening to withhold funding to a city unless it elects his preferred candidate for mayor seems like the sort of thing that shouldn't be legal.
Trump on Mamdani: "He is going to have problems with Washington like no Mayor in the history of our once great City. Remember, he needs the money from me, as President, in order to fulfill all of his FAKE Communist promises. He won’t be getting any of it, so what’s the point of voting for him?"

Was still fully dark when I woke up, and now it's very foggy as I leave the house. A bunch of crows and at least one magpie were feasting on a torn black bin bag on the ground. They all flew off without making a sound as I came closer. That really added to the spooky atmosphere. This is all a […]

Interesting: congressional Republicans are quietly gearing up in orienting themselves towards a post-Trump political world. Not spoken out loud by them, but behind the scenes when they're off the record.
David Pakman mentions a few things: staffers' turnover, others infrastructure being built […]

I'm probably wrong in various ways about this coming Trump era feeling Nixonesque to me (à la what All The Presidents Men revealed about Watergate and the Nixon admin). They are playing footloose with not just norms (like in Trump's first admin) but will also like break all kinds of laws. With […]

Oh my... gosh... Ah, yes.
Jen Psaki musing about a Trump/Musk break-up (I thought of that as soon as Musk with Trump and some kind of rule was a thing. Trump won't let anyone outshine him).
And she is right! It'll be very messy.
But Musk will not be around in the White House for four years […]

"Brexit makes no sense in a world dominated by Trump. Britain’s place is back in the EU", from The Guardian.

We really need to start talking with the EU about a closer arrangement, e.g. single market & customs union. The world is changing out from under us and we'll flounder on our own […]

Oh. My. God. Trump and the mad wing of the GOP (that's pretty much everyone, right?) have a trifecta. So basically: they get to REALLY show the American people what they've got in store for them, right?
Is it wrong of me to be filled with nauseated glee at the thought of the freak show […]

Well, okay, Tim Walz sounds a lot more interesting and exciting than I feared. He has his head screwed on right and I love the "they're weird" dig. Coz they totally are, first amongst them Trump himself and also those who fashion themselves in his image.
I'm looking forward to finding out more […]

Oh no. The one bloke, Tim Walz, who I hoped Kamala Harris wouldn't pick. This feels like Tim Kaine all over again.
Otoh I don't know much about him. Highly likely many other people feel the same. Couldn't we have had someone who feels a bit more inspiring and feisty like Pete Buttigieg?

I've just rediscovered this account (I set it up so I could indulge in lots and lots of posting about politics, and then didn't do much of that, huh), I mainly use my main Masto account: @[email protected]
That main account doesn't let me find the Bluesky bridge app account (perhaps the admin…
