Toward the end of Obama in the job, the world seemed a bit more tolerant and kinder. Then came Trump and set it back a bit. Then Biden advanced the cause of decency again and it looked like Harris might keep it going. Then came Trump 2 and the world has gone backward, but nastier and less tolerant.

When I grew up Australia's national anthem was God save the Queen. Then it was Advance Australia Fair, a song that basicaly sucked. Bruce Woodley wrote a great song that Australians love, and that opitimises modern Australian reality. "I am you are, we are Australians". It is a much better anthem.
