My train of thought here:
who is Scott Alexander? Is he that Dilbert cartoon guy that sucked? Did he die? I think he died. Huh. I guess I forgot about him. Oh wait I think the Dilbert guy's last name was something else than Alexander so I have no idea who that guy is.

And all the AI companies are in a sort of weird investing circle-jerk where they each owe each other money but use chips as collateral even though the chips are a depreciating asset...

This part is gross, even beyond the emails Gelernter exchanged with Epstein. This is what Gelernter wrote *to his boss*.

I hate AI because of this. It's literally part of the dementia test they give older adults, and a thing most kids are able to produce by the time they are around seven.

I absolutely recall Sarah Kendzior warning extensively about this many years ago, so it's not surprising. It is disappointing that the whole Democratic leadership essentially did nothing about it, however.

We will know rule of law matters when we see justice served. Hasn't happened for the criminals running the government nor any of the slobbering foulbrained wealthy involved with Epstein. While there is always hope, all this has been known for over a decade.

Handmaid's Tale was a historical speculative fiction. The author literally said she pulled everything in it from articles and such that she cut out, and various situations in history.

I definitely would have died at birth, and probably taken my mother with me.

Failing that, I had a serious illness as a toddler that would have killed me without antibiotics. My sister would have died of diarrheal illness as a child, too.

Yes it's rather impractical for folks to carry a *birth certificate* on a *run* or *dog walk*. And a decent proportion of US citizens don't have passports, which are still somewhat cumbersome for those activities (passports don't fit where DLs or credit cards do)

So walking my dog at 6am requires an ID? Going for a run requires an ID? And it's not like the govt thugs care anyway, legal residents and citizens have both been taken (or shot!) despite having ID on them

Chipped but no collar=returned

No chip and no collar (or a collar but no phone or address) = posted on socials and took to shelter where they wait a week to put up for adoption and charge a fee

I am a big proponent of chipping, having found dogs without a collar that got successfully returned and having had a dog die from a freak accident involving her collar and the pet sitter's fence.
That said, 100% of dogs I found with a collar that had phone or address were successfully returned.

20- and 30-somethings getting a small slice of joy out of eating *checks notes* slightly higher end rotisserie chicken than what Walmart offers. Wow what a journalistic reveal.

I wish I could hope that journalists (or more probably, editors) would connect the dots with falling birth rates but
