X has become so useless for me. My posts would reach more people if I simply shouted them out my window instead of posting them to X, and I'm not even exaggerating.

I don't trust these companies AT ALL. They hold all the power, and we simply have to take them at their word, which stinks because we don't get the same treatment in return.

But please stop disrupting users workflows and scaremongering. It's not solving anything.

The third article talks about a lawsuit against Google for auto-opting in users. The article itself says it's not really clear if this has heppened.

Ugh. I just followed up with a few articles posted as evidence. Two of them use X posts as their only source. The X posts say the same thing, no actual evidence of anything. Someone, somewhere, has just seen this Gemini entry appear and extrapolated it into an opt-in for machine learning.

To be clear, I'm not asserting that Google is or isn't doing that. I'm saying that them adding a Gemini feature to Smart Features isn't a signal that they just started. A tickbox for "smart features" is not a tickbox for "opt my data out of machine learning".
