Well done, Vicky! Ethics! I am incredibly moved by this and so will so many in the communities I serve. Thank you. #WelfareNotWarfare #TakingThePIP
(1/2) With a heavy heart, I have written to the Prime Minister to tender my resignation as a whip.

Whilst I will continue to support the government in delivering the change the country so desperately needs, I cannot vote in favour of the proposed reforms to disability benefits.

Dear @teamlabouruk.bsky.social MPs,

We need you to sign the amendment. You cannot, in good conscience, vote for a Green Paper that will affect—quite literally—millions of the most vulnerable people in the country without an Impact Assessment. Work with us. Please sign now.

Thanks,

Everyone

UPDATE: according to the BBC MORE THAN 100 Labour MPs have signed the green paper amendment. Direct calls from Starmer and Reeves that were supposed to placate would-be rebels had instead "been entrenching people" to vote against the bill.🙏 #TakingThePIP tinyurl.com/msc3ffpm

Labour MP last night: “If they are so convinced by what they are doing, they need to prove the concept rather than rushing ahead….. You can have as much passion in your speech as you like, but if you're just pressing ahead with something that's unconscionable, it doesn't help”.

As I watch Starmer tear up Labour's prospects by attacking people in poverty, abusing those who care about the living world and appeasing the ultra-rich, I feel the same sense of dislocation as I did before the Iraq War. Anyone can see the disaster coming, except, apparently, the government.

Dear @wesstreeting
,

More people are diagnosed with mental illness because growing up in austerity increases mental illness rates—then a 2 million-strong waiting list cements disability.

Stop making people who already feel like a burden feel even worse.

Best,

#Disability

If the changes to PIP were to get passed next year what are some consequences that are not being spoken about enough?

My MP emailed me, just reiterating what Labour have already said, but I’d like to send a detailed reply.

I’m doing research, but if anyone wants to share, feel free

After 15 years of austerity, people are already being forced to choose between heating and eating.

Labour plans to slash disability payments - the £5 billion “saved” for the biggest increase in defence spending since the Cold War.

This will drive up to 1.2million into poverty.
Some will die.
