Same here. In San Diego 40 years, surrounded by nine military bases and an ocean. There is no "plan" for a nuclear event.

In my GenX teens in So. Oregon we would joke that well it's boring here but at least we won't immediately die in a nuclear apocalypse

My best suits are from 1994. I intentionally went 1940s style - double-breasted, pleats, cuffed hems. So they're always / never in style. I went more transactional a few years back and with online hearings and out of town clients I haven't stepped into a courtroom this decade. They'll fit til I die.

It's trivially easy to despise Avatar movies as I do and still appreciate that Cameron doing exactly what he wants to do in the way he wants to do it. Also T2 is a perfectly crafted movie IMO, and I can watch it over and over again. But that doesn't make it a masterpiece.

My earliest Christmas memory is liking the presents but not buying the narrative. My grandpa had flown me in a Cessna from Burbank to Ventura so I had a feel for how many houses there were and I had also looked up the chimney flue and no fat man getting down that.

Not to mention all the hits he wrote for other artists. (I spent some time in Minnesota in the '80s and it was crazy. I've never seen so many life-size cardboard cutouts of any other human being.)

...whereas for me the very act of taking notes removes the material from the abstract and solidifies the concepts in my brain, so the notes aren't all that useful later but are invaluable at the time. I also studied by stating relevant stuff aloud, cuz if you can say it you can write it down later.
