This is a powerful piece and I REALLY appreciate you putting it out there.

Captured well by the movie Office Space- as Peter is attempting to explain why it’s ok to take the 1/1000th of a penny and Joanna keeps accurately summing it up as- “so you’re STEALING”
December 14, 2025 at 12:08 PM
These people have always been stealing and lying
December 14, 2025 at 12:04 PM
That is the model of much of the tech industry- essentially breaking the law & getting away with it by passing it off as “innovation”. Uber & Lift- f#^k those taxi licenses & regulations! Drive an unlicensed cab!! Air B&B- f#^k those hotel regulations! Turn your home into an unlicensed hotel!

The EU would probably be better off without Hungary. Orban has been a pain in the neck for the EU. I don’t see what the incentive would be for the others to leave the EU.
December 12, 2025 at 4:13 PM
Umm- can you elaborate Tom?

I live in the US. I don’t think it’s safe for foreign visitors to come here.

Enjoy Canada and Mexico.
December 10, 2025 at 3:58 PM
Man! I hope folks boycott the US World Cup games. This is ridiculous. And I think it’s impossible to guarantee foreign visitors coming for the World Cup WON’T be harassed or abused

I worry about Democrats in Maryland inadvertently creating pickup opportunities for Republicans
December 10, 2025 at 3:30 PM
Well yeah- Texas Republicans may regret the SCOTUS allowing them to go forward with that redistricting. They are going to have to weaken their existing heavily gerrymandered districts. They may inadvertently create pickup opportunities for Democrats in a blue wave election.
December 10, 2025 at 3:29 PM
All I’m saying is listen to Ferguson make his case. I don’t think Raskin fully represented it in that interview.
December 10, 2025 at 2:15 PM
Redistrict some of those blue seats to try to dilute Harris’ hold on the 1st district, & you may see some blue seats flip red. MD has largely been a 1-party state for 30+ years. Republican voters are more motivated here than people think
December 10, 2025 at 2:13 PM
You know Raskin’s point about Texas not really being a red state and is actually a purple state? You can make the same point about Maryland. It’s a blue state, but heavily gerrymandered. There is a deep well of resentment towards Democrats.
December 10, 2025 at 2:11 PM
You can listen to Ferguson make his case here on the WYPR Midday program link

www.wypr.org/show/midday/...
Sen. Bill Ferguson on whether he has the votes to block redistricting in Maryland
Several high-profile Democrats, including Gov. Wes Moore, have pushed for Maryland to redistrict and potentially write out its lone Republican congressional seat.

Everyone hating on the MD Senate Pres. are ignoring the very valid points he’s making about the hurdles to redistricting.

I’ve listened to him run through them on my local NPR public interest radio program. He’s got a compelling argument
December 10, 2025 at 1:37 PM
What are you talking about? He’s not trying to be president. And he’s not responsible for Hillary Clinton’s loss.

He’s just a Senator from Vermont with the same message about corporate power he’s ALWAYS had.
December 10, 2025 at 11:50 AM
Likewise

The constant relitigation of the 2016 campaign gets us nowhere.
December 10, 2025 at 11:34 AM
How did that tank Clinton in the General? How did the “all cake no broccoli” Sanders message tank Clinton in the General?

She was a bad candidate, but would have been a very good president. Nothing was going to change that.
December 10, 2025 at 11:30 AM
Clinton had the entirety of the Democratic Party at her disposal, President Obama campaigning for her, and a shockingly terrible Republican candidate as her opponent. And she lost, albeit due to the distortion of the Electoral College- but that’s the stupid system everyone has to run with.
December 10, 2025 at 11:25 AM
At any rate- Clinton’s real problem was 30 years of Republicans vilifying her had absolutely ruined her brand. They managed to instill deep hatred for her among Republicans & independents.
December 10, 2025 at 11:19 AM
He was on point regarding economic populism & in 2016 it was that message that caught fire.

It’s not like Hilary didn’t have her own issues. In a Change election, she was running as a friend of Wall Street/corporatist Democrat.
December 10, 2025 at 11:14 AM
Nonsense

The voting data shows 88% of Bernie voters went on to vote for Clinton

More than the number of Clinton voters going on to support Obama in 2008.

1 In 10 Bernie Sanders Supporters Ended Up Voting For Trump

Here's How Many Bernie Sanders Supporters Ultimately Voted For Trump
Yes, Bernie Sanders supporters who voted for President Trump could have cost Hillary Clinton the election. But then, about the same share of Republican primary voters defected to Clinton.

Don’t blame Bernie. He endorsed Clinton and most of his voters followed her. Bernie actually captured disaffected voters who later went for Trump- they would never go for Clinton.

Clinton would have been a better candidate if she got a tougher primary. 30 years of GOP scapegoating killed her run
