The interesting thing is that you find the same thing in modern studies of ancient history. Rome “liberates”, while Parthians/Sasanians “occupy”. Rome “attacks”, Sasanians “raid”. Rome pays “subsidies”, Sasanians pay “reparations”.

On doing the same inadequate shit over and over again until the end of democracy - The Shot
The consequence of not good enough, as evidenced in the United States right now, is that you inevitably get much, much worse.

And of course a visit to the museum with friends helps you notice some gems which remained unnoticed in many single visits for years.🙃😆

This rather proud looking little chap is probably the god Harpokrates. Whoever he is, he is certainly pleased to see us. Egyptian 600-300 BC.

Have to say I reckon Peter Norman would be pretty happy with this..
Teen sprint star Gout Gout breaks Peter Norman's 56-year national 200m record
At just 16, Gout Gout removes Peter Norman's national mark that had stood since 1968, producing a faster time than what Usain Bolt ran at the same age.

I was diagnosed with HIV in 1998, when I was 30.
Many of my friends had died but I was told, with the new drugs available, I could expect to live another 20 years.
That was 27 years ago.

Honour those we lost.
Celebrate that we can now treat and prevent HIV.
Make HIV stigma history.

People really don’t grasp how big these coal mines are.
While Australia talks about climate action at COP29, at home the Australian Government is approving NEW coal mines.

This one, Narrabri Underground Mine, is so big that it covers nearly the entire area of the electorates of Sydney and Grayndler.
