🚨 BREAKING: Trump just pardoned a Baltimore drug kingpin who trafficked a metric ton of cocaine into our community—making us less safe.

This is exactly why I introduced the Pardon Integrity Act: to bring oversight to a pardon system that’s been abused for far too long.

🚨 It’s official — I am seeking re-election to the US Congress to continue the fight to lower costs while promoting decency and democracy.

I am introducing a constitutional amendment – the Pardon Integrity Act – that would grant Congress the authority to reject outrageous pardons and commutations put forth by a President.
I believe in the rule of law. Presidents of both parties have abused the pardon power to reward allies and protect family.

Unchecked power corrodes our democracy—my bill would add real congressional oversight to the pardon process.

I am lucky to know Speaker Jones as a friend and mentor who took me under her wing as a young legislator. Maryland is undoubtedly a better place because of her.
Grateful for Speaker Adrienne Jones’ willingness to listen, her talent for turning vision into action, her candor — and that she will continue representing our shared constituents in the Maryland House.

I am exploring reasonable, constitutional limits on the presidential pardon power.
The President’s decision to pardon the former Honduran President — convicted of trafficking 4.5 billion doses of cocaine — removes all credibility to his claims about being tough on drug traffickers.

I am now exploring reasonable, constitutional limits on the presidential pardon power.
White House defends pardon of ex-Honduran president convicted of drug trafficking
“He was opposed to the values of the previous administration and they charged him because he was president of Honduras,” Leavitt said.

So much to be thankful for today and every day. I started a gratitude journal a few weeks ago and it’s amazing how many good things there are in our lives, from the mundane like coffee to the magnificent like friends and family. Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Another week of the House of Representatives being closed for business by Speaker Johnson.

Another week where we do nothing to address the cost of living crisis facing Americans.

Another week where the Epstein files are not being released.

President Trump must be suffering from amnesia. 🤷‍♂️ 🫠
President Trump signed the 2019 law guaranteeing back pay for federal workers during shutdowns. Now he’s trying to break it.

Federal workers shouldn’t pay the price for his political games or failed leadership.

1️⃣ Federal workers are not political pawns
2️⃣ Airports are being negatively impacted
3️⃣ Compromise requires a seat at the table

We can’t find compromise if we are not speaking to each other. I continue to call on President Trump and GOP leaders to come to the table to negotiate a deal to re-open the government.
Week two of the Republican shutdown.

Democrats have a plan to restore healthcare funding & reopen the government, but House GOP won’t show up because Speaker Johnson canceled votes.

Maybe it's because when the House returns, we’ll have the votes to release the Epstein files. 🤷‍♂️

Federal workers are not political pawns.

Trump’s mass firing plan would make a shutdown permanent, taking away livelihoods and harming critical services. I’m introducing the SAFE Act to safeguard federal employees during shutdowns and ensure back pay if they’re fired unlawfully.
September 26, 2025 at 3:48 PM
Federal workers are people, not political pawns. I call on all of my colleagues in Congress to join me in preventing mass firings by the Trump administration during a potential government shutdown.
A shutdown should never mean mass layoffs. Yet Trump is threatening to mass fire federal workers, treating them like political pawns. That’s why I’m introducing the SAFE Act to block these attacks and protect workers during shutdowns.

We have seen a President gleefully ignore the law and instruct Republicans to gut a Congressional budget that had bipartisan support. Any budget that continues that as a "new normal" should be a non-starter.

Rep. Johnny Olszewski sees a ‘nonstarter’ in funding talks. Why he’s eyeing a shutdown.
Money for federal agencies runs out on Sept. 30, leaving over 300,000 Maryland residents without a paycheck if Congress can’t find a way forward.
