Like, as usual, you can argue about whether it's really a good thing for federal spending to be that big a fraction of gdp. (My immediate reaction is that it seems high. But a lot of it is healthcare, and healthcare as a fraction of gdp is its own Whole Question.

so, idk, it seems like some people are motivated by effective altruism to (1) give up high-paying tech jobs for much lower-paying nonprofit jobs, and (2) donate substantial portions of their salaries? Sure, yes, SBF, but it's not literally only that.
