A couple of years ago, I read a comment from a Black lady saying something along the lines of, "Audiobooks aren't 'cheating'. Your ancestors have told and listened to stories since the beginning of time."

I've been committed to audiobooks ever since. It's like story time, but for adult me.

I only read 38 of the 60 books. So that's a 63% completion rate.
Part of me is ruined by our American education system. My first thought is to calculate my grade. 63% is a D, but in reality... I dont always have the time (or interest) to finish a book, and that's okay. There's no "assigned reading"

Growing up Black & gifted when some peers will project resentment & strangeness & "not-Blackness" on you both makes you terrified of failing to live up to your potential but also isolates you from grasping how the expectations go to your head, and I had both of those issues going on. (3/5)
