Fundamentals carry you just as far in competitive games as combos do. Doesn't matter if you drill the 20 hit combo if you can't control your spacing because people who have fundamentals will grind you down before you even start the combo. (2/2)

And this is largely why when I do them on stream I explain that it's all good for showing you esoteric tricks and that they're useful in that respect but not for practical learning in terms of using them mid match.

Will it teach you how moves can work together to give you the foundations of your character's combo routing? Sure.

Will it teach you the combo you actually want to be doing in a match? Probably not!

Because yes, we can have a conversation about how child stardom leaves people woefully unequipped to grow into their maturity and not be weird, but also, past a point? Drake *made* choices and is *still* making them. His inability to stop being weird is entirely on him now. Hold that. (3/3)

Leaving aside that technically he lost the case to UMG and not Kenny, this news made me smile so wide. Because yes, the issues in the culture are bigger than these two, etc., but because of how weird Drake been moving for a while he deserves this L ten thousand times over. (1/3)

That's the more important thing than proving whether you're "smart" or not. Prove to me that you actually want to get in on the ground floor and do your due diligence by at least trying to engage with the material. I'd rather take an excited "mediocre" student than a bored "clever" one. (3/3)

The whole thing about academic integrity isn't about "proving you're smart enough to do the work yourself". I don't believe in intelligence the way a lot of people talk about it (long story), but I do believe that adhering to academic integrity demonstrates you have the willingness to *learn*. (2/3)

I am in fact that sort of teacher. Hell, if you need an extension and you don't give me a reason to regret giving you the extension, then I'd rather do that and let you cook! Like if you did the reading and at least *tried* to do the thing, I respect that more than trying to cheat or whatever! (1/3)

I think if you are a certain kind of teacher you would rather have a bunch of students who procrastinated prove comprehensively that they had done the reading rather than a handful of inoffensive papers clearly phoned in

I hear and see your concerns. Over the weekend, a couple users hosted on Blacksky's PDS were banned from the Bluesky app and thus the Bluesky API servers. This was a weakness of our system I've been aware of and hoped we had more time to address before any kind of public incident. 1/11

Yes, I know Discord had that data breach lately, but while I do of course give grace to smaller teams working with less resources I also have to balance that against what the community will be able to make the most of with the least friction. Which might honestly be Discord. (3/3)

At present that replacement is a toss-up between Stoat and *sighs* Discord.

Stoat's main issue at present is mostly that I want to see how they handle the next month. If they need more time to spin up, then I'd rather go to Discord and let Stoat cook until they're steady. (2/3)

All of these things said: I *do* have a Mastodon account but for various reasons I don't really vibe with it (do not give me advice about to use it).

Even being on Blacksky, if for w/e reason ATProto goes belly up, you can find me at least at whatever replaces my Twtich Guilded server. (1/3)
